How do you explain the King James Bible was the only English Bible used for almost 400 years? Did God not give His preserved word to those generations? Of course he did! And he did it with the King James Bible…the ones nowadays have perverted His word and destroyed it and they will find themselves judged one day…did you ever wonder why the King James Version is always being attacked? It’s Satan’s work because he knows it’s the true word of God.

Don’t believe me though, believe in God! Believe he can save you from eternal damnation and put your faith in His Son…call out His name and the Holy Spirit will enter you and show you the right way.

Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess

righteousness; and with the mouth confession

That is ALL you need to do to have eternal salvation and be with Christ for all of eternity in Heaven!

It is obvious that you did not have a true call to the priesthood, and you are right - we can all serve him, just as well, by following the vocation he has for us be it in “fancy robes” or in blue jeans and sweatshirt.

No - His word has been preserved for 1500 years in the 73 book canon of the Bible, as well as in His most Holy Church, “the Pillar and Bullwark of Truth”.

I agree that there are a number of modern Bibles with rather poor translations. That is why we look for ones with Church (pillar and bulwark) approvals.

Study up on Christian history brother, I am not a Protestant. Independent Baptists were there before the reformation and were NEVER part of the Catholic Church. The blood of the saints is on the Catholic Church and Protestant Church…those saints are the ones that truly believed in the Word of God and preached. Baptists were KILLED by Catholics and Protestants but we were there before you. Search on it, look it up…I tell you the truth.

This poster sounds like another one that was on here recently making all sorts of outlandish, and unfounded claims. He also claimed to be a former Catholic.

It is both sad, and entertaining sometimes. All we can do is pray for the lost and misguided souls.

What is even more sad is the fact that these people forget to realize that the King James “Version” is just that. It is a “version”, not the real thing.

The KJV was translated 2 other times before the current “version”

An objective observer might then be forgiven for concluding that the first pope’s two general letters to the Christian Church possibly carry more sway with KJVO advocates than they do with Catholics!!!

But given the title of this thread, it seems to me that the Original Poster has provided Catholics with an excellent opportunity to instruct and inform readers and browsers about the Catholic faith. You could post just about anything you wanted to on this thread demonstrating how Catholicism is misunderstood and falsely vilified and there would always be a connection to the title. Moreover, you’re a Catholic revert. You can perhaps help the Original Poster along? It may be that he holds to the ecclesiology of Landmark Baptist but better Landmark Baptist than Landover Baptist, surely?

Unfortunately there is nothing any of us could say to this person that would meet with anything but more rhetoric.

How can you be certain of that? One can never be sure of how little or how much people might know and, in any case, the same truths must be stated and restated and restated. Suppose the Original Poster is a recent convert to the views espoused by the local Independent Baptist preacher and has imbibed all sorts of things about Catholics that are untrue? Supposed the Original Poster never really understood Catholic teaching and his resentment grew from a few externals? Or suppose the Original Poster has for many years been sitting in a pew under the tutelage of a pastor who frequently preaches anti–Catholic sermons based on Loraine Boettner’s novel understanding of Catholicism? In time, the Original Poster might decide to revert just as you did – if you help him to understand and are patient with him. Sow a seed now and in a decade or two he may revert. You’ll doubtless receive no thanks for it but you’ll have done your duty.

You are absolutely right on everything you say above and I apologize for my rather “defeatist” post earlier.
If I felt that I had the ability to engage this person, given my current life situation, I would. Thankfully there are others here who are better in both knowledge and available time to help this person and any others looking in.

Of course if this poster, or any others would care to do a quick search or browse around the different threads here I’m sure it wouldn’t take long to find limilar thread to this one with all of the arguments already thrashed out.

I for one, am definitely a Landmark Beardist. It is clear from a cursory survey of apostolic history, that all of the major figures of the church have had the same exact beard. Augustine, Chrysostom, Athanasius, Irenaeus, Ignatius, etc. If you don’t have the proper beard, how do we have any knowledge that what you’re teaching is truly apostolic??

Absolutely right. The bearded saints have never been part of EITHER the Roman Catholic Church OR the Protestant Church. Martin Luther, Zwingli (who had a small bit of fuzz, the imposter), Pope Leo X… They even managed to make John Calvin (who had a proper beard) fall away; even the ELECT aren’t safe! ALL of them put to death the true Christians both before, during and after the Reformation.

You simply have no way of knowing even basic Christian truths, like the canon of Scripture, unless the one teaching you had facial furr succession.
