May I attend/celebrate a Lutheran Confirmation?

I am a recent convert to Catholicism and was not raised in any religious tradition. My sister and her family are Lutheran. (She converted before her marriage.) Her daughter (my niece) is being confirmed in the Lutheran church this spring. May I, as a practicing Catholic, properly attend the confirmation ceremony and/or present my niece with a gift to celebrate her confirmation?
