a very happy Christmas and New Year 🙂

I am going to be away now until the New Year with family.

It’s been a very interesting year for me here, I’ve learned lots, and I’ve had my views and opinions challenged in a way they have never been before. It forced me to think about things I had never thought about before in a structured manner.

As a result, my opinions have not changed and in fact I’m more sure than ever about my position as an atheist as I’ve had to think things through in a way I havent been challenged to previously, but it has been stimulating and interesting to engage in some very interesting/challenging discussions with some wonderful Catholic and non-Catholic posters.

It’s unfortunate I think, that several people seem to have an agenda of provocation, ridicule, or outright antagonism and hostility, as soon as one self-identifies as an atheist, rather than constructive discourse, and I’ve only ever had to use the ignore feature of the forum on Catholic posters, not non-Catholic or non-believing posters. It does show I guess, underneath, regardless of belief, there is good and bad in everyone.

But I also want to extend a special thanks to those who, Catholics in particular, over the course of the year, took time to pm me regarding issues, recommend reading lists, and so forth.

I look forward to talking with you all in the New Year.

Kind Regards and Best Wishes

Sarah your posts have always been respectful. Change of mind comes with time and life. You won’t think the same 5-10-15 years from now I assure ya. Though that dosen’t mean you will believe in a higher power either.

Its not people like yourself that others react to. Its those who choose to restrict others from their belief and lifestyle which becomes offensive when the literal hate in their hearts becomes clear. And of course thats not just with atheists but other religions and faiths also.

A great example is radical Islam which would force you into conversion.

Those who believe in no God are not a mystery to me. Those who want to suggest you should believe in what they do, or condemn you for what you do believe are.

Peace

Sorry to see you leave, but at least its temporary. 🙂 I know I don’t really “know” you but you’ve always given good posts and have struck me as being a good person.

Merry Christmas!

How very nice, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too. I think you will never believe in Christ this way, perhaps because you are thinking too much. Might I suggest that you try simply praying? Just pray, and ask God, if he’s not there you won’t get an answer so any answer would be a good sign. The most powerful prayer would be one that you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. The key is to mean it, and you’re not ready for that one. But that prayer tends to have a bit of a “kick” to it so it’s a great way to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. You can watch others do this but you will just probably think they are pretending or something or acting. But I really think that if you could experience the Holy Spirit you would never question it again.

Best regards and love

That’s so kind and thoughtful Sarah.I wish you a very Happy Christmas 🙂

Thank you Sarah.🙂
Have a wonderful vacation!
Warm wishes,
Trishie

And there you have it. Catholicism and atheism are polar opposites.

Anyway:

Merry Christ’s-mas(s)! Oops!

I meant Happy Holidays! Oops!

Enjoy your time with your family!

Right back at 'cha, Sarah! 🙂

Questioning is always a good thing, or so says the Catholic Church.

Just don’t stop with the questions and continue to seek. If you seek, you shall find answers–of that I am assured.

Well, as the majority of posters on this forum are, well, Catholic, that stands to reason that chances are if you’re going to put someone on “ignore” it’s going to be a Catholic. 🤷

Merry Christmas to you, Sarah, as well. I pray that God brings many blessings to you and your family this coming year.

On the surface of things, “Hey, thanks for all the stimulating dialogue, but I’m gonna stay atheist” and “Merry Christmas!” seem like two very strange things to lump together…I’m just curious as to what spurred you to mention the former.

At any rate, Merry Christmas to you, too.

Dear Sarah,

I haven’t posted much lately but I do lurk a lot, and have really enjoyed reading your thought-provoking posts and threads!

A very Happy New Year to you and yours, and hope to see you back at CAF soon!

Thank you.

I hope everyone here had a lovely Christmas with friends and family, or if some of you were on your own, I hope you found peace and happiness and contentment in whatever the situation you found yourselves over the holidays.

I wish you, and everyone here, a wonderful, peaceful, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and I’m looking forward to lots more interesting and stimulating discussions here 🙂

We look forward to answering your questions in a patient, loving and kind manner in this new year 2012. Try not to take too close to heart, the heated words of those, who with zeal and passion that want you to convert, who in their humanness and in err, can misspeak and become (name removed by moderator)atient with you. All discussion is welcome, as long as it is not the intent to try to exasperate those who would answer the question to the best of their ability.

God bless. and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Sarah,

Peace be to you Sarah,
Bernadette173
