I may need to get married in a civil service first, can my wife and I then have a Catholic Mass to be married in the church a few months later?

Hi,

Some countries require that a couple be married civilly before the church wedding and so the Church allows this. But the Church does not recognize such a marriage for Catholics as valid. So any Catholic couple who is married civilly must live apart until they are validly married in the Catholic Church.
