Hi everyone and God bless.

I am a former atheist from the UK who at one point was very anti-religious. I became friends with a guy from Manchester and a couple of guys from the Republic of Ireland.

Struggling with depression I always wondered why they were so uplifted, almost “gifted” in many ways, so one day after football, I went to mass with them to see what it was all about.

Right away I noticed how different it was from the Protestant services I attended as a child and how much participation it involved so I started to learn about Catholicism. Right away I was intrigued about the Nicene Creed, The Gloria etc.

I left University in 2012, still struggling with depression but summoned the courage in 2013 to go to my local chapel and attend Mass. I loved it from day 1 but illness stopped me going for a period.

RCIA began and I was involved and I’m not happy to say we are really pushing through it! I received my first confession and my Protestant family were more than happy to come along.

While my depression may not be cured, I wanted to thank God and to thank all posters on this forum for some very inspiring words.

Oh My - what a wonderful post! It is difficult to admit our weaknesses. I am still working on that one. God Bless you! Welcome! I am a cradle Catholic but my Mother was a convert and I think in some ways, converts have a greater appreciation, having see things from both sides now (Jonie Mitchell!)
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

😃
Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate you taking the time to read my story. God bless you all.

God has a better way and it never bring side effects. He wants to bless everything we touch. The Bible says that “God will bless you ordered … and bless all of you touching …” This means that whatever you touch, whatever your hand on the Lord will bless ordered it, that is, objects or work. So if you touch your children, it will be blessed. If you touch the tree above us your gui, anointed music flowed. If you touch the work you do, it will be a success. When you lay hands on the sick, he was healed. When you touch someone is in the lack, that person needs to be met.

Another way it to rejoice with every minute of it, but don’t feel deprived if they don’t take the time you’d like to take. That’s what we’re all here for. Massive availability of discussions of All Things Catholic. And there are more Catholic videos for free on YouTube than you could spend your whole life watching.

That way we can stay fully engaged inside church our out, and our enthusiasm doesn’t have to annoy those who aren’t quite used to being Catholic and exuberant, all at the same time! :extrahappy: And like to take more time than one hour on Sunday to talk about it. 😉

Thank you for sharing. What a wonderful story. May God bless you abundantly.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for sharing your experience! I also went through the RCIA program. It does take plenty of courage to do it, but it is worth it! 😃 I’m happy for you!

God bless!
