May laity say the words of consecration?

Is it ever appropriate for a priest to invite the congregation to say the words of consecration with him?
 
Dear friend,

Why would a priest do a think like that? Such an act would only serve to further blur the distinct nature of Holy Orders. Such an action is never allowed; nor should it be.
