May my child have surgery on Sunday?

My child has been scheduled for surgery on a Sunday, and I’m wondering if that’s OK. It’s not an emergency, but he does urgently need the surgery soon. In fact, the doctor squeezed us into his schedule to get it done as soon as possible. If we don’t take this date, we will have to wait another month or so. I keep telling myself that Jesus healed people on the Sabbath, but some friends’ reactions have me worried that we are doing something wrong.

By all means, have the surgery. Priests heal souls of Sunday! As you mentioned, our Blessed Lord healed on any day–and He still does. Your son is in our prayers.
