May one enter the convent with a child?

would it still be possible for a woman who has a child to enter a convent to be a nun?
 
Dear Ulik,

After the child reaches adulthood and is self sufficient, then the mother may be able to find a convent that would take her. But until then, her child is her number one responsibility.
