May one ignore the truth of the Catholic faith?

This may be a silly question, but I am curious.

What would happen if a person came to the conclusion that the Catholic Church was the true church and had the truth, but still refused to enter it?

Dear C,

This is not a silly question. Actually, it’s a very serious and important question. For a person to acknowledge the truth of the Catholic Church and then to disregard it is to lose one’s salvation.

When one has been given the gift of faith, he or she is obliged to abide by it.
