When someone is under mortal sin, can they still recieve communion? Also, is the mortal sin removed when the priest absolves you of your sins in the confessional, or when the penance he gave you has been completed?

Thanks

Hi,

To receive Holy Communion while in the state of mortal sin is an additional mortal sin. We don’t receive the Body and Blood of the Lord into the filth of sin. And when we are in the state of mortal sin, we ARE filthy.

Mortal sin is removed with the priest’s words: “ I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Those are the most welcome words we ever here.
