May we change the text for a Mass reading?

Is it permissible to change text in reading at Mass to coincide or reflect modern situations, while keeping the same meaning.
 
Dear friend,

The Liturgy is not our personal property to do with as we please. The Church has determined what translations are to be used at Mass. We (including priests) do not have the authority to make such changes.
