I am wondering, is it ever appropriate for a Catholic to receive communion at a Protestant service? I am wondering in particular about Episcopalian or Anglican services. Also, is there ever a time when Catholics recognize the communion at an Anglican or Episcopalian church as valid?

Thanks!

Dear Ruth,

It is never appropriate for a Catholic to attempt to receive Holy Communion at a Protestant service. The Church of England lost the valid Eucharist quite early on.
