Hello,
Last week we were married in a civil marriage. My filipina wife is a widowed Catholic, and I was baptized Catholic last Easter. I have applied for an annullment from my first wife, (we were divorced 5 years ago) with the Catholic Church last November 2008, and are still waiting for the results. Due to immigration laws we needed to be married within 90 days of her arrival here in the USA, so we were married in a civil marriage ceremony last week. Our question is: can we receive communion at sunday mass?

thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Your civil marriage is simply a legal thing. You should not be living as husband and wife. You should be receiving Holy Communion because you are not having sexual relations. If you have had them, cease and go to Confession. You can do it. The Lord is worth putting first. You are in our prayers.
