I was told by a ex-missionary friend that they could not be on the internet while on their mission? I guess it must be ok if they are trying to teach their message online:shrug:
No, cyber missionaries are not the full-time 19 year-olds on bicycles. Those guys are forbidden from spending time on the internet. Cyber missionaries are regular Mormons who are encouraged to spend their time proselytizing online, sending people to mormon.org.I was told by a ex-missionary friend that they could not be on the internet while on their mission? Well, between September 2008 and now, the LDS organization has dispatched full-time cyber-missionaries. See this article from the Salt Lake Tribune.I was told by a ex-missionary friend that they could not be on the internet while on their mission? If you could describe what you saw a_cermak, I’m sure we could show you that you were shown into a visitors center NOT the temple. That is, unless you went before it was dedicated. There is a point in time when they allow a tour of the facilities before it is consecrated for worthy members only.I was in Nauvoo, IL some time back, looking through the graveyards there, and I took a look at the Mormon temple there. While I was looking at it, once of the nice young folk came out to chat, he asked me if I was a Mormon, I said, no, I was a Jew. Anyway, he invited me in! I was shocked, I was like, aren’t outsiders banned from seeing it? He indicated that they were far more concerned with apostate Mormons than they were people of other faiths. So, I got to see the inside, and it’s very nice. I certainly didn’t see anything shocking!
And given my own Faith’s history, I’m highly skeptical when folks provide lurid tales of what goes on at XYZ religion’s rituals.
