Who doesnt love the South? Northerners…it always just makes me stop and scratch my head at why it was legitimate and comendable for 13 colonies to rebel from their king while it was illegal and evil for 11 sovereign states to leave a union they voluntarily joined…go figure

Off topic, but there probably wouldn’t have been as much support for Lincoln to bring the southern states back into the Union if South Carolina hadn’t fired on Ft. Sumter.

If the south had no right to secede, then South Carolina’s actions were treasonous and a sign of rebellion. If the south had the right to secede, then it was an act of war no different than the attack on Pearl Harbor.

But this is off topic.

Lincoln simply forced the South’s hand. Ft Sumter was located in the Confederacy, and would not surrender the fort to the new nation.
