Now, I realize that the Church does not require the faithful to boycott organizations that promote sinful activity, and I realize not everyone will see this as a cause worthy of a boycott. However, knowing that the NGLCC is very active in promoting gay “marriage,” I can no longer justify giving my money to a company who, in turn, passes that money along to this group. I hope you will consider taking your business elsewhere as well.

Peace of Christ to all,

Mary

From the article
“*Other corporate sponsors of the NGLCC include expected names such as Coors Light and Kodak, who have been leaders in advocating homosexuality, as well as IBM, Wells Fargo, JPMorganChase, Motorola, Intel, Avis, Pepsico, OfficeMax, Coldwell Banker, as well as dozens of others.”

I am in line with the Church`s position on homosexuality at the same time I see a future where it will be very difficult if not impossible to avoid buying products from companies that support and promote the NGLCC.

I see the same thing, and it frightens me. I recently reviewed the AFA’s annual comprehensive report on the most offensive companies in America, based on contributions to abortion, pornography, gambling, the gay agenda, and other evils. Microsoft, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Time Warner, and other major corporations made the list. It may soon become impossible to purchase anything in the USA without inadvertently contributing to wickedness.

What I would like to know is how to find out if any of McDonald’s competitors have a clean reputation. If not, then there doesn’t seem to be much point in a boycott.

The problem you will run into very fast here is that many companies are owned by others and also the partnerships that go on. For example you buy a computer from HP who many not directly support the agenda but Microsoft gets a cut of you windows preinstalled system.

I’ve been avoiding Carl’s Jr. ever sense theft porn adds a few years back, but unless we all want to go back to pre 1800’s life styles we can’t be 100% clean of these companies.

I’m surprised gambling is in this list since it is not intrinsically evil, while all of the rest are.

From the Catechism: "
2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others."

I do agree, however, that it is becoming harder and harder to find any company that does not directly or indirectly support some evil.

You’re right – gambling is not intrinsically evil. I think the AFA lists it because 1) they are fundamentalists who believe that it is evil, and 2) it has destroyed many lives. Alcohol and tobacco, of course, are not intrinsically evil, but each of us could point to at least one person whose life has been ruined by them. But my concern is not with companies that support gambling, rather where abortion, pornography, and the gay agenda are concerned. For that, the AFA report is quite useful.

The Human Rights Campaign keeps a list of companies on their website that they consider “equality friendly”.

The page lists companies that are 100% equality friendly, ones that are making progress and companies that HRC suggests that supporters avoid.

People could use that list to choose to purchase from companies that HRC says to avoid if they wanted to make a statement, or contact those companies to show support. Just know that the site is targeted towards GLBT people, so you may not want to click there.

Thanks. 🙂

The HRC is a pro-Gay marriage lobby. If they endorse and organization, then a faithful Catholic could use that to determine not to do business with a company.

I support and will participate in the boycott of McDonald’s.

Exactly-that was my point in providing the information. They do a very good job outlining which companies support them. People can use that information in any way they wish. Contact supporting companies and register displeasure, purchase from companies that are outlined in Red on the HRC site and contact them to tell them why.

Again, I warn that the HRC site is a GLBT friendly area, so do NOT use it if clicking on that kind of site would be a problem for you.

Thanks again for the link. I downloaded the guide and will use it precisely this way. 👍

This is not new. I haven’t stepped foot in McDonalds in years. And this is just one of the reasons.
