Meaning of Rosary Colors

I personally always thought of a green rosary as either (a) Irish or (b) just a pretty green rosary the color of grass, trees, plants that God created.

This is the first I’ve ever heard the color green associated with STDs or Celiac. It may be that there is some special rosary created for these intentions and it happens to be green, but seriously, no Irish person is going to associate light green with an STD any time soon.

An artist created that particular Rosary

The artist choose Light Green to symbolize awareness for:

Celiac Disease
Chronic Pelvic Pain
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)

That’s not a universal thing for all Light Green Rosaries.
Yeah, the artist is just doing that in order to get people to buy the rosary.

People wear “awareness” ribbons in the shape of the Hope ribbon charm on that rosary, in a light green, for awareness of those things listed, especially celiac. It looks like this artist specializes in “awareness rosaries”.

It doesn’t mean that every rosary (or T-shirt or ring or other item) that happens to be light green automatically means awareness of celiac or STD. It could be someone’s birthstone, or just a color they like, or associate with a certain place like Ireland or a forest.

Even if it is an awareness rosary why be so begrudging…especially towards celiac and pelvic pain whom sufferers are innocent of any wrongdoing? There’s also merit to praying for those who have aquired diseases through their own sin. Last time I checked praying for sinners was part of the Rosary and being Catholic overall.

Are Rosaries taken onto the battlefield black coloured. To go a little off topic

Combat Rosaries issued by US government were usually a silver color, like dog tags.
I reckon they would turn black over time maybe from the tarnish

I have these green - tiger eye !
I own a few colors - of rosary - green is my favorite though.

I’ve always associated light green with St. Jude as he wears green in the images I’ve seen. Also because I have nine bead St. Jude chaplet that has light green beads.

Color could mean any number of things. I’m sure there’s probably a sinister connotation to the sapphire color that I prefer…It’s my birthstone though and I love the color so I don’t really care about what anyone else thinks.

I’m at wood and cord these days because it’s durable enough to handle a rough and clumsy person like myself. 😒

But I love mother of pearl!

I know one person who has a different color rosary for each liturgical season… green, purple, white, red etc. Sorta like @RandomAlias does for avatar.

No, there is no problem with using a certain color.

Sapphire is my birthstone, too. In what way is it supposed to be sinister?

No idea personally, but I’m sure someone out there could come up with something if they tried hard enough, just as for any other color.

What?

Mine is purple because it’s my favorite color. I also have a white one I made when I was in elementary school because it resembled sister’s habit.

Am I supposed to be more conscious about color choices?
