 I believe I can eat eggs on Friday. I cannot eat the leg, thigh, breast, etc because that is meat. What about gizzards, and livers, can I eat them on meatless Fridays’:confused:confused?

This confusion about eggs is usually based on confusion about the origin of eggs. Hens will lay eggs without a rooster around. These are unfertilized and as most commercial eggs are unfertilized, it is not considered meat. I don’t know, nor do I want to get into questions of fertilized eggs, etc. But I just wanted to make that clear to most people who buy eggs from a store. Same with milk and cheese and all dairy products–not meat.

This is not about vegetarian versus vegan either; start your own thread.

Well you can eat, Pancakes, tuna fish, cereal, usually it,s Catholic,s that fast on Friday,s durning Lent, but the two day,s that you really need to not eat meat is ,Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, other Fridays ,it was said to be OK,to eat meat ,as what I herd.

Goodness! I was just pointing out the fact that organ meats are meat. I am not a vegan or vegetarian at all. I am a dedicated carnivore except on Fridays. 😃

I guess the problem with the written word is that one can’t hear the colors of droll sarcasm. Apologies if I offended.

I like your adjective “dedicated” carnivore…very charming.

If a person can’t do without meat - whether it be an organ or an egg, one day of the week as penance and to attempt to mortify the flesh, well, I’d say they have a lot of work yet to do.

There is so much food available. Is giving up meat one day of the week that hard? Really?

I thought we established that eggs aren’t meat.

Yes to eggs, no on the gizzards and livers.

Check with your local diocese, but where I live, Catholics MUST abstain from meat on all Fridays during Lent. On Good Friday (and Ash Wednesday) we abstain from meat and fast.

I’m having some problems, an I just share for informational purposes only…I’m not looking for advice or answers.

I’m having problems with wheat and dairy. If I eat a lot, I swell and bloat and have digestive problems and headaches for a few days. My diet is mostly meat, veggies, and very little fruit, very little dairy. I hate fish and Fridays have been hard for me this lent. If I don’t eat some cheese for protein, I get very weak and I’ve caved to carbs on Fridays as well. I’ve been suffering from headaches that last all weekend after a Friday of more dairy and carbs. I’ve got to figure out something for this Friday because I’m feeling horrible.

Again: I don’t want advice or remarks I’m just sharing.
