Besides being a welcome break, I find that enjoying myself when these exceptions come up helps make abstaining the rest of the Friday a more deliberate and meaningful practice.

We had a High Mass at our parish last night, and then 46 of us went to dinner at a restaurant. We had reserved the party room. We had a great time!
