Ill-fated chicks here in the Philippines are buried with the murdered dead.Chickens don’t have the best lives anyway. Maybe the CC is just giving them a break.

I don’t allow some book or church doctrine tell me what I can or cannot eat at any meal. I eat meat, fish, chicken, anytime I want, even on Fridays. People get so up tight about eating meat on certain days. That was the law back in biblical days. Its old school to me in this day and age. My faith in God & Jesus doesn’t hinge on what I can or can’t eat.:hey_bud:What I want to find out is why the dictionary defines meat with the exclusion of poultry but Catholics include poultry as meat and prohibits it on Fridays in Lent.
This post demonstrates a complete lack of understanding regarding the purpose of fasting and abstinence. To me it actually has all the appearance of willful ignorance and an arrogant self-confidence so powerful that it is immune to education. For that, I feel so very sad for this person.I don’t allow some book or church doctrine tell me what I can or cannot eat at any meal. I eat meat, fish, chicken, anytime I want, even on Fridays. For one thing, I’m not Catholic. Second, I don’t believe in fasting and abstinence. I will say I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink beer, or hard liquor, I don’t smoke pot. Why do you judge me? Why are those doubts clouding your mind? This post demonstrates a complete lack of understanding regarding the purpose of fasting and abstinence. I have no doubts. Nor have I accused you of any of the things you imply… I am merely expressing regret over your saddening words that you simply do not seem to grasp the concept of self-sacrifice as a means of helping to focus your mind on our Lord. For one thing, I’m not Catholic. Second, I don’t believe in fasting and abstinence. I will say I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink beer, or hard liquor, I don’t smoke pot. Why do you judge me? Why are those doubts clouding your mind?
You say I completely misunderstand the purpose of fast & abstinence? Then you say, “No church or doctrine forces anyone to do anything they do not choose to do, its a personal choice.” With that in mind, why do you judge me? You shouldn’t even be critizing me for my beliefs. Another thing that you & others completely overlook…I’m not a Roman Catholic! If fasting & abstinence is your way of focusing on the Lord, then that’s good, for you. There’s more ways of focusing on the Lord.I agree that “Germany” completely misunderstands the purpose of fast and abstinence.
No church or doctrine forces anyone to do anything they do not choose to do. It is a personal choice.
As in anything, we learn to accept the consequences of our behavior. With the proliferation of plans for weight reduction, even “lap-banding” it appears that there are many folks who don’t mind following rules for nutrition that entail a great deal of self-denial. As in most posts, responders appear to miss the initial question and launch into a discussion of some irrelevant, if related topic.
We share the human condition in that we are all interested in searching for Truth, but :hey_bud:hampered by our own preconceptions.
Not only do you not appear to understand the theological aspects of self-sacrifice, you also do not appear to understabd what it means to “judge” someone. To judge a person is to try to look into ther heart and determine the state of their soul. No one has said or implied anything of the kind. You say I completely misunderstand the purpose of fast & abstinence? On the other hand, Holy Scripture, and the constant teaching of the Catholic Church compells all Christians to correct others and to try to lead others to the Truth.
No one has attacked you, we have only expressed regret over your lack of understanding and your apparent refusal to be humble enough to try to learn.
Well. That certainly confirms everything that I wrote. We appreciate the redundancy of your post in the even that we we missed what you said the first, second, or third time, or the religion listed in the upper right corner of all your posts.=================================================================:hey_bud:
What’s with this self-sacrifice? YOU are the one who does not know the meaning of judge. YOU have a short memory, so I will repeat this one last time: I am not a Catholic. I am German Orthodox. I got away from the Catholic church as I didn’t agree with their teachings, and their statues and the fact their order of the Mass was repetitious. Same things each and every week (except for the music & Bible readings.) The many traditions they use to have are slowly disappearing. Now they are just another ordinary church. I prefer traditional.
I’ve already contributed, but, you have refused to accept my beliefs, you have censured my beliefs because they don’t fit in to your way of living & learning.Well. Since you do not actually have anything to contribute to THIS thread, perhaps you would be happier looking at another.
No one has done any such thing. The only person doing any criticism, scolding or “censuring” here is you. We have only expressed regret at your lack of understanding of certain Catholic concepts which have much Biblical support. It is not charitable, not to mention truthful, to say the things you have said here.I’ve already contributed, but, you have refused to accept my beliefs, you have censured my beliefs because they don’t fit in to your way of living & learning. You apparently want to pull me into your Catholic way of life again. I’m sure glad I got away from the Catholic way of life.
Thank you for your comment. I did locate a church that holds the Latin Mass twice a month. I don’t understand Latin, but I want to at least attend it once. The Catholic website here is the closest to German Orthodox website that I can find. I’m still looking (Edited off topic)Not to belabor the point, but I must admit that I can relate to “Germany’s” dissatisfaction with the Church. No doubt that there have been many unfortunate changes that have been harmful, but in returning to the foundation of our Church and our belief in the presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, we can be assured that He will be with us and is always present for each one of us. The Mass does go back many centuries and as such is the very sacrament instituted by Christ Himself. We are all human however, including the leaders of our Church and it is we sinners that Christ came to save. The saints are already members of the Church Triumphant and we can only call on their intercession as we follow their example.
Amen.
Off topic post. The topic is about issues regarding the Catholic traditions of fasting and abstinence. If you want to talk about a movie, find or start a different thread,Thank you for your comment. What do you know about the new movie coming out, “Demons & Angels” in which the Illuminati is seeking to dstroy the Vatican (spelled right?) There’s 4 movie trailers out now. I bet this will be condemned by the Catholic church.
