I know there is an old tradition of embedding a medal of St. Benedict in the foundation of a house, but I was curious is it also permissible to embed a St Benedict Crucifix (or any crucifix for that matter)? I am pouring concrete for a building repair and would like to place one or the other in the cement.

I wouldn’t know about that, sorry, but I do suggest, you get a “house blessing” from the priest once the house is finished?

Bury and forget does not seem as valuable as an on-going devotion to St Benedict. Putting the Medal or Cross where you can see it and using it to focus your prayers seems better. Especially raising children.

Try this link hopefully it works, but here is what I found on thier.

Use of the Medal

There is no special way prescribed for carrying or wearing the Medal of St. Benedict. It can be worn on a chain around the neck, attached to one’s rosary, kept in one’s pocket or purse, or placed in one’s car or home. The medal is often put into the foundations of houses and building, on the walls of barns and sheds, or in one’s place of business.
