I don’t watch T.V. during Lent - aside from religious viewing on Sunday or perhaps Good Friday (i.e., Passion of the Christ, Therese, etc.).
Lucky. Others in my house aren’t so inclined to fast from television, so the noise is constant. I also get the lecture about how it is unfair to them that I don’t want to spend time with them. I don’t understand how it is quality time to zone out together in front of the tube.I’m not watching any evening television during Lent. I watch in the morning so I can know the weather, the traffic conditions, and if anything seriously important is happening. Otherwise the tv is off in the evening. It was a bit tough at first, but I’m really enjoying the silence. I’ve not replaced that noise with music or anything else. I hope I can keep it this way, at least to some extent, after Easter.

Just wanted to bump your question up, JMJ_coder, as I, too, wondered the source. Not much of a problem for me and the cats, I must admit; we can do without much TV.
I have not had a TV set since the year 1985. I more or less stopped going to movies in the year 1990. I might go to a movie once or twice a year, but some years have not bothered.
It was just mentioned in a short article iny our weekly church newspaper.
