Christ is treated today just as he was 2000 years ago when he walked the earth. The fact that he continues to be treated this way should not make us marvel; instead, it should make us check our own resolve. Remember, there was only one disciple that remained with Jesus at the Cross.

Let us not fall into the trap of pointing fingers, debating customs and laws as the Pharisees and Sadducees did. Let us instead live out our faith at the foot of the Cross where we see Him crucified and naked before the world. Let us unite ourselves with Him and not be afraid to find ourselves abandoned and left alone as He was for the sake of love.

There will always be those who blaspheme Our Lord. But we must imitate Him, and be that light He so earnestly desired us to be. A light that will chase away the darkness and bring peace to all mankind.

Similarly, if Catholics cancelled their subscriptions to Showtime and boycotted the Las Vegas casinos/ hotels and cruises that employ Penn and Teller, they would change their tune so fast.
Penn and Teller are obnoxious atheists, but they’re not on the level of the people who do these vile acts.

Dawkins, now…

Dawkins may not actually directly encourage these acts, but they are mostly done in his name.

Not to mention a good portion of these folks are acolytes of his.

He does NOTHING to condemn this, which is a way of “tacitly approving” it. 🤷

This isn’t a CITH-COTT thread. Let’s stick to relevant discussion.

And just like people “cheek” their medications, they can “cheek” the Host. After practicing law for 16 years, I have learned that a determined thief will steal what he wants to steal regardless of the safeguards.
It is relevant.

That’s how the Eucharist gets stolen and taken somewhere to be desecrated.

CITH-COTT 🤷 Talk about slaughter of the English language. Everything is an acronym.

Don’t forget that Catholics and Christianity in general has a history of violence in the name of conversion. Not that the Church taught it, but because some people took the teachings in their hands and twisted it to their own personal agenda. But still the events are attached to the image of the Church, justly or unjustly. Don’t forget the Inquisition.
Your’s is a self-debating and self-answering statement.

Catholicism thru the ages has fallen into violence and grown out of it quicker than any other religion in the world and remained peaceful to where others continue to opt for violence in the name of religion.

I wish that Islam would hurry up and grow out of its violent trend although I don’t think its going to happen anytime soon.

He is an Oxford intellectual who has lived in an ivory tower all his cossetted life. He knows nothing of pogrom and gulag. He, in his innocence, genuinely believes atheism incapable of founding hate thus revealing an alarming lack of historical knowledge which can be added to his equally shaky grasp of philosophy.

The hectoring, ungracious tone he takes may be mere debate to him but he is ignorant of the power of atheism ( a relatively new and vibrant quasi religion ) to found violence. It is wholly within the range of possibility that the disregard for Christian sensibilities he and others wink at and encourage will lead to further and greater attacks.

Sadly, I agree with you. I pray he will come to know our Saviour one day.

The irony is, he used to be a great writer, when he stuck strictly to SCIENCE writing; when he veered off of that into Atheism advocacy and apologetics, he merely came off as a misinformed pamphleteer who resorted to nasty name-calling and argument by insult and innuendo,
