In my attempts to overcome venial sins, I couldn’t help but wonder about one of the sins mentioned in the examination of conscience that i use catholicparents.org/oxcart/Examination%20of%20Conscience.pdf
“watching tv or movies that promote sex or violence”
I rarely watch television anymore, save the military channel, national geographic, or even rarely, certain music channels. What fiction I still watch (movies, a few anime titles, etc.) contain some instances of violence, sexual jokes, characters dressed inappropriately taking the lord’s name in vain etc. It’s at least a far cry from the shows I used to watch such as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”.
Please understand that for me, watching these things does not want to make me commit such sins. I often get annoyed when a decent show is marred by questionable content. If I can discern between what’s good and bad in media, wouldn’t it be okay for me to watch the shows I like? I’ll name examples if needed.
