It says that they appreciated beauty, and put their artistic skills to the service of Christ.

Can you imagine how long it took to craft it?

Michelangelo’s David and Pieta took even longer, and are worth considerably more in Euros.

Painting and sculpture since the Reformation haven’t fared quite as well, unfortunately.
 
I guess that just means the medieval christians were heathen idolators.
