I think it’s okay to meditate some on other Scripture while saying the Rosary (versus just concentrating on the Gospels only that portray the Life of Christ), just so one remembers the original Mysteries.

Even in the Glorious Mysteries, when I have read booklets that are “Scriptural Rosaries” for the 4th Glorious Mystery, the Assumption and the 5th Glorious Mystery, The Coronation of Mary, I have read Biblical quotes from other books of the Bible, I believe Jude and Song of Songs.

Assumption (for example): scripturalrosary.org/assumption.html

The Epistles are actually good in this area, 2 Peter actually mentions the Transfiguration which of course is one of the Luminous mysteries.

Yes, there are various ways to say the Rosary. Unlike the Liturgy of the Hours it is not an official prayer of the Church; it is private prayer. (even though said in community at times).

It helps us to meditate on various scripture readings, while staying close to our Blessed Mother.

You can merely focus on being in the presence of God while praying the Rosary.

Just use the Hail Mary’s to help keep you centered on God.

When you find yourself distracted, just return to the Hail Mary’s and being on God’s presence.

It’s the beginning stage of contemplative prayer.

Absolutely fine. I do a mix of the 54 Day Novena with Scriptural meditations. I don’t have it memorized, but refer to my slideshow links. I think I forgot to add the (optional) Litany of Loreto, though! Oops! :o

When I use scripture to meditate on the rosary, it’s not the kind of devotion I can do quickly. It becomes a much longer process.

I’ve been shocked at what can happen while praying the Rosary.

One day a few years ago I realized that I had allowed my (formal) prayer life to lapse, and I hadn’t even realized it. I needed some sort of structure in order to get back on track. I thought the Rosary would provide a perfect beginning. Now it’s my deepest prayer. I have had some very close encounters with the Holy Ghost while praying. (I had to develop a very unique way of praying the Rosary, but it has worked spiritual wonders.)

As a convert I used to have some problems with mysteries that either weren’t in line with my Anglican (low church) upbringing or were hard for me to see the significance of. Much of that has made a 180° turn. 🙂
