Meditation and rosary question

When do I pause to meditate with the rosary? Do I say the rosary prayers as I do it? I feel kinda of rushed if I do that.

If you are starting just now it takes a while to learn and it changes over time. Some days are better than others. Some say that doing it slower has more efficacy. It is pretty important to at least attempt to meditate on the mysteries during each decade. Some times are better than others… usually transition from one mystery to the other… So on the Father beads I suppose you could let that be a pause… I recommend Demontforts writings on this the most. There is another book called stories of the rose that I enjoyed I read it in one sitting. It may be a history book but I don’t think it is completely accurate in terms of tradition. Anyway… Hope this helps cause I’m still not exactly sure of your question.

There is no right or wrong way to do it, just whichever method works best for you and that can change from day to day. Some people like to pause after announcing the mystery, others use the Hail Mary’s as a pious timing mechanism. I tend to alternate the two approaches depending on how focused I feel on the day.

what I try to do is condense each mystery into a single virtue, and then use each ‘Ave’ as a petition for that virtue. For example, the Annunciation and being accepting of God’s will in your life.

I do a whole bunch of things, but they usually involve concentrating on the mystery and not concentrating on the words of the prayers. This is a learned art, it’s partly dependent on the fact that I’ve been saying the basic Rosary prayers for so long I can’t remember ever not knowing how to say them, and from what I have learned it may also be gender-specific with respect to how the female brain works.
If you need to pause, meditate for a couple minutes, then pray, as many do who need to focus more on the words of the prayers, most people do it at the beginning of the decade, either before or after the Our Father.
