Hi everyone!
I understand that it is against Church teaching to use a medium/physic to unveil the future. What I am wondering is if it is alright to consult a medium/physic to, say, help determine if your house is being attacked by demonic forces or something else like that that isn’t related to divination or is that also against Church teaching? Just curious. Thanks!

NO, NO AND NO!!! Anyone not professing the Lord Jesus as Savior and King is unable to discern anything and may actually bring further injury and ruin to such a house. NO!

Approach the Diocese. Ask for some help from them. Every Diocese has (or is supposed to have) a trained exorcist. You will be asked many questions. Based upon the answers you give, action may or may not be taken. DO NOT TAKE ON ANY TASK OF ATTEMPTING TO EXORCISE THIS HOUSE BY YOURSELF.
 
Agreed. Talk to a priest. He may wish to bless you/ the house but I don’t think they can perform an exorcism without diocesan approval.
 
Thank you, everyone, for your responses. I may have not been very clear. I had no intention on going to consult a medium as I really don’t want to mess with that stuff. I was merely curious. I thought the answer would be no, but I just wanted to make sure.[SIGN]BLESS YOU![/SIGN]

NO!!!.. Go to a priest… do not approach a medium or anyone practicing divination… this is not only dangerous but against the Law of God… And God makes these Laws for good reason… to protect us … Please go to a priest and I will keep you in my prayers

Read this carefully: if you are under demonic oppression, and you go to such a person, then the oppression WILL get a great deal worse and more difficult to escape.

Please read a book like Fr. Amorth’s An Exorcist Tells His Story before going to a so-called psychic.

And as far as the sinful nature of the act, it is a terribly grave act, hence why the infestation can be allowed to worsen so much. If you knowingly go to such a person you place your soul in great peril.
 
One speculative question. Ever since I learned the faith, I have treated anything that psychics hear as coming from demons. I recently had a non practicing friend tell me he went to a medium and had a deceased friend of ours ‘come through’. The medium said the dead friend said ‘he just couldn’t see.’ (Fog was determined to be the reason for the car accident that killed him.) I told this friend that he was conversing with demons.

It got me thinking, why do demons do innocuous things like telling friends the reason for our death. Is it a lure into divination which allows them to influence our lives? Or setting up future lies that divide us from God?

We can rely on faith for what comes after this life, but ultimately it is a mystery. If this was our friend that ‘came through’ where is he? Does that undermine the faith, asking such questions? Quite honestly, the whole thing troubled me about what I know from doctrine about the hereafter. Maybe that was the demons purpose with the seemingly innocuous revelation to this friend. it was all chance that this even came to my attention as the person who visited the medium is a distant friend, and that our conversation turned to that was chance as well. Just wondered what others thoughts were?
 
Because it will help enslave your friend to them. He will believe their lies and they will be able to petition God for greater domination over his life since he actually asked for it in a roundabout way.

They have access to all sorts of information that we don’t have. They can see what is happening in multiple places. They know conversations between people we have not heard. They can put a lot of information together and make very accurate predictions.

I wasn’t planning on going to a physic nor will I ever. I was just wondering if it would be acceptable if one ran into the situation I described. Oddly enough though, that was the next book on my list of to-read books.
 
Don’t do it. Medeums open doors, and the problem is you don’t have a lot of control over what walks through the door.
 
**PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME. The thought of going to a physic HAS NEVER ONCE crossed my mind NOR WILL IT EVER. I do not believe I am demonically oppressed, I was just giving a what-if scenario. Forgive me for my poor wording in my original question. **
