I agree, I still won’t have to believe it if it does become approved, but I must re-examine why I didn’t originally believe it and see if I myself erred in something. Because that particular error might be a stumbling block for me in the future. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure do need to grow in my faith.

What do I personally think? I think Medjugore has taken attention away from Fatima. I think Medj is satanic. It must have been satan’s goal all along to distract people from the message of Fatima. Fatima was for real. We need to pay attention to that apparition. The Fatima messages make sense. Those coming out of Medj don’t make a lot of sense to me because they contradict the Faith in many instances…

That’s and interesting point. Never thought about it that way.

I do not know if you “must” re-examine why you did not originally believe as the Church never rules that it is real. The Church just rules that it is “worthy of belief”.

While I do not believe in Medjugore, Fatima also plays no role in my spiritual life.

While it has been ruled that Fatima is worthy of belief it is not binding upon Catholics. No Catholic must assent to Fatima, a faithful Catholic may chose not to believe in Fatima.

Nothing at Fatima added to public revelation. Fatima is a private revelation and does not require belief.

This is the biggest issue I have with some who believe in apparitions, they wish to add their favorite apparition to the Deposit of Faith which can not be done.

You might not have to, but I would. Right now, the Church does not have a strong feeling it is worthy of belief. Neither do I. If the Church decides that there is enough evidence that it is worthy, then I feel I would need to re-examine the reasons I felt otherwise.

Besides, I’ve learnt a lot in the past when I originally disagreed on something the Church said, and when I went to re-examine why I felt the way I did, it often resulted in pride to some degree. I’ve learned to weed out those past issues, why should I all of a sudden stop because someone told me I should not have to do that anymore?

You are you. I am me. I’d rather be safe than sorry, as the saying goes.

That’s wonderful that you believe that. I happen to believe Fatima. Fatima plays an almost no role in my spirituality, other than the prayer I say while praying the rosary.

I had a locution a long time ago before I came back to the Church. It has played a very large role in my coming back to the Church, although at the time I ignored it. It was a warning that I did not heed. It did not add to anything to public revelation (nor should it because all things have already been revealed through Jesus, and any apparition that adds to it or takes away from it should be rejected). I later found out that the same message is given in numerous places in the Bible. However, as a non-believer at the time, I did not care what the Bible said or what Catholics, Christians or any other religion said. It was probably given to me becuase I wouldn’t listen any other way.

If I never had that locution, I might be indifferent to apparitions, or any other similar phenomena. In all probability, I would never have come back to the Catholic faith, remained agnostic/secularist and my soul would have remained lukewarm.

Now I agree we do not have to believe in an apparition because the Vatican says it is worthy of belief. However, we are also free to believe or not to believe now as well, and the Vatican has not made up it’s mind on it. Obviously, something has to change from a point where the Pope says “We’re not sure” to “we believe it’s authentic”. That “something” may be important to someone. Maybe not to you or me, but it might make an important change for the better in someone else.

If apparitions were of no avail, then the Church would ignore all of them. There is a reason why they pay attention to some and approve them. If you don’t gain anything from apparitions, then that’s fine. But understand that some people may benefit spiritually from them, otherwise the Holy See would not approve of them at all. True there is danger of obsessing over them, but that is true of many things that Catholics do as well. So while it is good to warn of the dangers, it is also prudent to remember that good might come of it too.

I try not to comment on my beliefs on apparitions that have been ruled to be worthy of belief. My opinion does not really matter as the Church says that they are worthy of belief, if I believe in them or not really does not matter.

I have had my own experiences with the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life. Many of then are why I am where I am today. I moved though the protestant circles on my way to finding my home here in the Catholic Church and that has created issues for me with Mary.

I believe that I am finally over them as I recently had an experience that I would rather not talk about right now.

I do not deny that Mary has spoken just that it really does not play a role in my spiritual life as all that needs to be said has been said in the public revelation of Christ. Mary just comes and reminds us of things that have been lost or forgotten at times.

Fatima played a major role in my reversion several years ago. I owe my life to Our Lady of Fatima. This is just my personal story. And my daughter was born on the day of The Miracle of the Sun (coincidence? 🤷 )
Medjugorje…well…I will listen and obey the Holy See. It doesn’t feel right to me at this point.

Snert, you were being more safe than sorry when you initially didn’t jump on the Medjugorje hype train. The Church never embraced the apparition. Individual Catholics did and it became a sort of self-contained and self-perpetuating phenomenon. These things are not to be believed or accepted *until *they are condemned by the Church, although some don’t understand this. Your response was the prudent one.

And now Bishop has officially condemned Medjugorje, which the Church has upheld.

May our Holy Mother, Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

what do most traditional catholics believe about the apparitions reported to have been seen in Medjugorje. i am asking for the opinions of those who frequent the traditional latin mass. thanks
Virtually all Traditional Catholics reject it, and wrongly so.
They mistakingly believe Our Lady is endorsing everything that’s occurred in the Church following Vatican Council 2 that Traditionalists despise.

In fact, Our Blessed Mother’s appearances in Medjugorje will result in the defeat of Satan within the Church, and the full restoration of the True Mass - The Unchanged Traditional Latin Mass, along with all the abandoned Sacred Traditions of Our Beautiful Catholic Faith !!!

In the October 13, 1884 Vision of Pope Leo XIII, Satan was given 100 years to destroy Our Lord’s One True Church. Satan chose the 20th century to begin.
This monumental spiritual struggle is nearing it’s climactic conclusion.
Our Blessed Mother Marija of Medjugorje has stated that when the Secrets of Medjugorje have come to pass, Satan’s power in the Church and the world will be destroyed.

To fully understand Medjugorje, one must first understand Fatima.
Our Lady has stated that what She began at Fatima will be completed through Medjugorje.
And so it is through Medjugorje that Her Immaculate Heart will Triumph !!!

PEACE OF OUR CHRIST

Tell that to Our Lady when you see her. 😦

Why specifically those who attend the Tridentine Mass? Are these a better type of Catholic?
Well, no not “better”. But it’s in the trad forum. It’s alright to ask a trad a question or two, isn’t it? No need to be so defensive.
