I used to be one of those people who never went to Confession, even when I was an otherwise fully practicing Catholic. Since returning to the Faith, it’s been such a joy to me. Let me share with you two recent experiences that reinforces Jesus Christ in the Confessional, that the priest is truly acting in persona Christi.
It’s a Sacrament that we can receive often, often, often!
- I have a sin I struggle with, and it’s been on the top of my confession list more than once. I had this on my mind at my recent trip to the Confessional. Just a few days before, I had been to Adoration and prayed for Mercy while there. I also opened the Bible ‘randomly’ as I am oft to do. I didn’t receive an ‘answer’ in the book of Jeremiah that night, but I did get an answer to a question I hadn’t been asked yet (by another person…a previous thread of mine), on the facing ‘glossy/informational’ page of that chapter.
- Another time, I had been praying to God for His Help to a sin I struggle with (different one). I received an ‘answer’ on my ‘heart’, so to speak. That evening, I went to Confession at my regular parish. I for some reason did the face-to-face, which I rarely do (like 5% of the time). The priest used the same exact answer that I had ‘heard’ that afternoon. I was in tears.
