Mrs. Obama appeared at a mega church in Longwood, Florida yesterday. It has the name Northland, A Church Distributed. The Pastor, Joel Hunter is a big Obamista, somehow connecting the dots between the Bible and the Publican.

While I could care less what mega churcher’s permit in their hallowed halls I wonder about the firestorm if, say, Mrs. Santorum (or any GOP candidate wife) made a presentation in St. Patrick’s?
Can you imagine the screams of separation of church and state issuing forth from the slavish liberal media?

And all this comes after 3 weeks of her husband doing everything he can to emasculate the Catholic Church in America.

I don’t think I get it.

I don’t think this mandate is truly meant to attack the Catholic Church per se, but sense the Catholic Church seems to be the largest faith based organization not willing to change or accept the state mandates as passed down then this train wreck is inevitable. Your point does bring out the willingness for other faith based (if you can call it that) organizations to submit to the state on any ground. The 2000 years of Catholic Church history should show everyone the church will NOT comply to these mandates, thanks be to God, and therefore “…the gates of hell will NOT prevail”. I do hope and pray other faith based organizations step up to show their equal dissatisfaction in this and other mandates. I honestly believe this will happen as they realize there can be no other Christian outlook on it. Think of it this way, if the Catholic Church ends up being the only organization standing fast against this mandate, then it might look more like the OHCAC.

Peace!!!

We’re just the biggest target because we have the highest number of agencies that employ a lot of people.

Hmm. I wonder how the government would like it if all of our agencies closed down for a few weeks, thereby throwing all those employees on unemployment? I don’t know if the Church would actually do that, since it’s a lockout (I think that was forbidden in Rerum Novarum, but I’m not sure. Also, there would be the matter of finding places for all those hospitalized patients, all those students, etc. The remaining US infrastructure couldn’t handle it.

Not trying to hijack, just some random thoughts. I’m sure that if Mrs. Santorium gave a presentation of some sort in a Catholic church, the media would go apopleptic!

Other faith based groups have spoken out about it. The Catholic Church is the largest single church in America so of course it gets the media attention. In addition, it serves the Obama administration’s purpose to make this seem like “only the Catholics are complaining.” It’s not just Catholics.

Not really. Tons of republican candidates have appeared at churches and at prayer rallies and the like. There’s practically a competition to prove among them who is the most Christian and can talk about their faith the most.

When I think about it, you’re right. It simply strikes me as timely that she shows up in an Evangelical auditorium when her husband has got religious organizations in his sights. And I think it says: “see–these people still like us even though those stupid old Catholics think we’re mean. We’re not mean we just want what’s best for everybody.”

The issue isn’t prayer rallies or the like . The issue is what is going on in the churches , proper .Do prayer rallies and the like receive tax -exempt status ? This is not about Rick Santorum speaking at a Communion Breakfast in the school auditorium or to the Knights of Columbus at one of their functions . Yes , politicians ( of all parties ) even give commencement speaches at church affiliated universities , that isn’t the issue . No one said that when President Obama spoke at Notre Dame that this threatened their tax exempt status .
