And why not? I mean really. You’re insistence on us not praying specifically for him is rather disconcerting. Do you have objections to specific prayers said during prayer intentions?
Just as I find your insistence on not praying for all lost souls but only for Mel disconcerting.
We all have specific prayer intentions for specific people. We have the individual people in our lives we have prayer intentions for, as well as others.
Yes, we do all have our private specific prayer intentions. I have an issue when those private intentions are pushed on to others so that they become public.

When we use names we limit our prayers.

Why have a day of prayer for one person when we can pray for all those who have lost the faith or gone astray?

IMHO Mel Gibson was placed on a pedestal when he produced the Passion of the Christ, but if we look to the movie he produced right after it, Paparazzi, it was a pedestal he does not deserve.

After your response to our good Carmelite Brother,*** I’ve decided to pray just for YOU*** :)…and you can pray for Mel Gibson. (or “Octo-Mel”, as he called himself before millions of viewers on the Leno show)

I hope our prayers will bring about greater respect for** those in the consecrated life** and those who are faithful to the ** sacrament of marriage.**

PAX CHRISTI
Everyone deserves respect. God is not a respecter of persons.

Just because someone wears a habit does not mean they are holy, prayerful or right.

I do not understand why he always makes the same remark about blanket prayers and I have asked him why. All I got was a condescending remark from you. Do you get pleasure attacking people?

Only God is good. Peace

There is no good reason why we should not pray for people specifically. I have never heard of such a thing. When we pray for one person, in a sense we pray for all. One changed life has a ripple effect, no?

I have seen plenty of answers for specific prayers that increases my faith and encourages me to pray more. I have seen miracles from specific prayers. Do you really think our Lord objects to these kind of prayers. I think He would be pleased that we pray together in unity for the good of someone else. We should do it out of love.

I know that we have been encouraged to pray for the conversion of President Obama by Bishops. Is that wrong?

I do not understand your attitude on this at all. But if it makes you feel better, I will include a blanket prayer along with my specific prayer for Mel Gibson.

Peace in Jesus!

That is fine if you do not understand me, just as I do not understand you, but that is no reason to insult me either.

I think Mr Gibson is in desperate need of prayers, even if they take a few seconds. Apparently he is now admitting to impregnating his latest girlfriend, so sadly it appears he is now throwing the teachings of the Church he claims to love, out the window.

Are you Kathy? or Godisgracious? I’m confused. But regardless of which one of you is insulting or accusing others of doing so, let’s just focus on praying and fasting for our own purification and goodness, shall we? God surely will hear our prayers for Mel when we are ourselves more repentant and charitable towards others.
Let us all desire to be imitators of Christ and His most pure Mother!

Kathy2004 is a completely distinct and separate person from me.

For those people who feel led by the Holy Spirit to pray specifically for Mel Gibson, then do so. For those who feel it is better to pray for all lost souls, do so. The important thing is for us to pray and not lose heart. Whenever I pray for my loved ones I always add on -
“and all those like him/her” meaning everyone in the world who might be struggling or suffering in the same way they are.

As for Mel’s interview with Jay Leno - I think it was inappropriate for him to go on national television broadcasting his affair and his mistresses’ pregnancy. Mel seems to think that because he and his wife were "separated’ for three years that that somehow nullified their marriage covenant. This is basic theology and Mel is playing dumb. As for his response to whether he would get married again - he responded “why get married twice?” Mel knows in his heart that he is still married to Robyn and unless and until they get an annulment there can never be another “true” marriage.

This is just another “fall from grace” - a sign to all of us who believe that we must always be “on our guard for your enemy, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking to devour you”.

May we all put on the full armor of God each and everyday, continue to receive the sacraments, and hide under Our Lady’s mantle and in Jesus’ divine wounds.
