I figured I would share this with y’all, as I love the Melkites. Be sure to listen to the Arabic ones as well, God bless!

St. Elias Melkite Church has one of the greatest pastors, Father Sebastian. I love he and is brothers, Father Hezekias, Sunday Gospel reflections!

Haven’t been there (I live in South Carolina), but I enjoy the fact they make the music available. Usually, when I go to a Melkite Divine liturgy it’s at St. Ignatios of Antioch in Augusta, GA (I live about 20 some odd miles away). The priest there, Fr. Michael actually just died. The bishop had to celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Latin church (where Fr. Michael also served), because the Melkite church was too small! I go there at least a few times a year. In fact, it’s the only Melkite church (though not the only Byzantine or Eastern Catholic one), I have ever been to. I’m honestly surprised Augusta has a Melkite church, but I am glad it does.

I heard about Father Michael’s passing. Blessed repose!

I haven’t been to a Melkite liturgy in years, but I very much enjoyed the couple I attended. The current Melkite priest actually lives in my local Latin parish at the rectory, but the Melkite mission is hosted by another local parish.

That happens a lot. The Melkite church in Augusta, to my knowledge, was not actually founded by Melkites, but other Byzantine rite Catholics. If I recall correctly, the local Greek Orthodox church in Augusta actually helped out by donating some stuff. (Which was really nice of them).

It was rather sudden. I think it may have been a reaction to a medication he had after his surgery (if I recall correctly, he was diabetic)

There’s a Melkite Catholic Church in Philadelphia which I’d love to visit sometime…

When I was up there I went to a Ruthenian Byzantine church. Which is fine, as before that I had never been to one.

Did you go to Holy Ghost, Holy Trinity or St. John the Baptist?

I actually went outside of Philly to Holy Archangel Michael (St. Michael’s) in Mont Clare, because we were staying in Malvern and it was close by. Tried to go to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Cathedral, but it would have taken too long to get there (though I did get to see from the outside, quite impressive)

That’s great! There’s also Ukrainian Catholic churches in the area too.

Tip: Check the Eastern Catholic Life for Lenten Vespers during the Great Fast (I’m thinking ahead to next year 😉). St. John the Baptist BC Church in Pottstown, St. Michael’s in Mont Clare and the other Byzantine Catholic churches affiliated with the Eparchy of Passaic take turns hosting Lenten Vespers.

In my Ukrainian Greek Catholic parish, we have Presanctified Liturgy during the Great Fast.
