It’s definitely not entertainment. It’s not a film you sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch after a hard day at work when you just want to relax and clear your mind. You watch it with a prayerful intention. You watch it while seeking to come closer to God. You watch it with a reverence and respect for Christ and what He did to attain our salvation.
 
Ok. Who was the creepy looking character with the creepy looking thing it carried?
 
The portrayal of the violence is accurate. I really commend the film makers for not sugar coating it as other films depicting the death of Christ do. It’s something people need to see. It helps us as Christians to recognize how much Christ really loves mankind, that He was willing to endure such unimaginable suffering.
 
I saw the movie once. To be completely honest, I didn’t like it at all.
I would much rather watch “Jesus of Nazareth.”
 
I agree. Though I appreciated The Passion for some things.

But I feel that Jesus of Nazareth was inspired in a deeper way, by the actors themselves.

Robert Powell even converted to belief, I believe.

But his portrayal of Jesus was absolutely extroardinary!
 
Very painful movie to watch … watching what our Lord went through in such a way … as a reality … hurts so much … I own the DVD, but only had the courage to watch it one time.
 
I feel the same way … The Passion is painful to watch … much rather watch Jesus of Nazareth.
 
I think the movie is artistically very good. It can be hard to watch but I think that is for a good reason. It vividly displays the result of the reality of sin. SIN is horrible and thus it is hard to watch.

I think the hardest part to watch is when Jesus is carrying the cross and his mother runs up to him and he says “Behold I make all things new” that was rough!
 
There are some good elements to it but the issue I had is poor character development that left everything a little disjointed.

For those who don’t know Christ and why he died for our sins, it will just look like someone being beaten to a bloody pulp. A few non-religious people mentioned this to me and I can see their point.

Yes, and that is the problem with a mere Passion film. You dont get the proper context of who Jesus is, even for us who have known Him for so long. We still want to see the portrayed Jesus built up. And to their credit, I think thats why they inserted the flashback scenes.

I heard talk of a sequal that deals with the resurrection, and I couldnt get excited. I want His ministry!

What I would really get excited about, is a high budget, all star cast, film that follows Acts faithfully!! Now that is something exciting!!

The film makes viewers realize the actual heavy price that Jesus paid for our sins.

I viewed it in a huge theater and the only sound I could hear were the tears and quiet sobs of the other attendees.
 
I watch it on Good Fridays. As others have said it is a brutal movie to watch but I feel, for me, it lets me know how very much we are loved.

There is a new movie with the same actor as the Apostle Paul, named Paul. It will be released during Holy Week I believe.
 
It’s one of my fav movies because it didn’t whitewash anything.
