Membership status in these forums?

I don’t understand how a member who shows status as “banned” is allowed to continue posting. My status is changed by the frequency of my posts. I understand the word banned to mean not allowed. Can someone explain this to me?

Are you certain this banned poster is actually continuing to post? Or could it be that you’re reading earlier posts which display the now-banned status of the poster? (Posts of those who have been banned sometimes still remain in a thread.)
