Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I wasn’t quite sure where to post. :o
I usually attend daily Mass on my days off of work. Today, there was not a daily Mass due to a memorial Mass that was taking place for a parishioner. Is this the same thing as a funeral. Sorry if that is a silly question! (I am still learning) :o Also, even though I may not the person who the memorial Mass is for, I would like to attend, pay my respects, and receive communion. I felt a little awkward about it so I did not attend today. If and when there is another memorial Mass, would it be inappropriate for me to attend??
Thanks and God Bless

Yes, by all means. You can attend the memorial mass. In fact most masses are a memorial for someone as people regularly request masses for themselves, other people or a particular intention. Do not let it being “a memorial” mass stop you from going.
