Great news for Catholics in the US!!

“The Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship has approved insertion of the optional memorial of Blessed John Paul II in the proper calendar of the dioceses of the United States. It also has provided the proper liturgical texts for observance of the Memorial in the Mass and Divine Office” The date for this is October 22!

I, too, was doing the extra happy smiley dance until I realized how close it is to October 22. I am almost willing to bet most, if not all, of the Churches near me will not participate in this optional memorial this year because it’s only a few days away. Oh well, there’s always next year, right?
