The only “rule” that really matters is the one where St. Paul states that a man dishonors his head if he prays or prophesies with his head covered.

I think we can safely say that rule is “old hat”.

Okay. I tend to think of male pattern baldness (or some other natural loss of hair as opposed to cutting it short) when people say “bald”. I usually used “buzzed” or “shaved” to refer to those who do it by choice. Of course for a long time I was both bald and buzzed, then I was just bald, even when the hair I had left was longer than it is now.

Then you have the ones who spend hours in the hairdresser’s chair getting the elaborate comb over “just right” and pretend they aren’t really bald.

Didn’t the knights of Columbus Color Corp wear their head gear when participating at Mass even before the rule changed? Of course, this only refers to persons in a specific ceremonial function, not anyone who happens to show up.

There are some verses in scripture that point to the covering of the hair for women. Prior to that i am not sure. I believe it wasn’t until the code of canon law in 1983 that the requirement for a women to wear a head covering was done away with.
Although this was a practice that had begun much sooner than 1983.

I would prefer to wear a simple monk type hood during mass. Full habit not needed.
Dominus vobiscum

men had to have uncovered heads “unless the approved mores of the people or peculiar circumstances of things determine otherwise.”
I assume that also applies to Eastern Catholics and the headdresses of their priests and monastics.

Especially for…

Oh wow. I am liking those very much. Is there a “laid-out” pic somewhere to see both sides clearly?
I never wear anything with obvious logos or printing, but still, wow.

Additional: have no clue what the writing is either. 🙂

It’s the habit of a Schemamonk (the highest degree of monasticism in Eastern Christianity). I found a view of the front but Google Images has more angles:

How does that follow? Above age 50 the percentage of men exhibiting male pattern baldness is over 50%, and it has nothing to do with military service.
I’m referring to the fact that over here, they shave the guys’ heads for the first few months of their compulsory service.

I thought great schema monks were higher than schema monks.
