Men midlife crisis. Does it happen to every man?

Pianist Clare. The original poster wanted help with a problem of the father watching porn and if the mother or brother should be notified. I said to let it be for now as it might resolve it self because some men go through a midlife crisis. Apparently I set of a crisis myself as everyone jumped to the conclusion that there was no such thing as a midlife crisis among men. You don’t hear of it every day because men don’t talk about it. It became a topic in itself in that everyone forgot about the original poster who was seeking help. I just don’t see how all these exchanges helped or comforted the original poster. Some might go back and read what the original poster was asking; not for a full blown debate about what midlife crisis is or is not. How does this help?
Wrong thread!

Have a look at this thread’s OP. This is, fortunately, not as dire as the thread you are thinking of.

Never-nowhere, did I say porn or neglect of family was not a sin. There were some very good replies to what became a topic-that of midlife crisis, but a lot of responder seemed to go off on a tangent of their own. I think Jesus would have been more understanding and forgiving of the fathers problems than we are. On judgement day-save me from the judgement of my fellow travelers.

Nope. the OP is a fairly newly married woman with a small child and a great husband.
No clue what thread you’re thinking of, but it isn’t this one. :nope:

Xantippe, this thread is a continuation of the original post. You will have to go back several pages to read the original plea of the poster. So many people just got off topic. Very sad for the young poster.

NO IT IS NOT.

E_7 NEVER said anything about porn!

Nope.

Look at the OP again.

You will need to go all the way back where the original poster says that the Dad was caught cheating on the Internet. Because most have forgotten how this tread became an off shoot of the original plea, it has become a vehicle of argument and opinions. Yes, the very original post was about porn and the father cheating on the Internet. Go back into search and find it. I won’t do it for you. You will have to look past page 1.

Er…um…Mary Estelle, I just want to clarify that I am the OP of this men midlife crisis thread (original poster of the thread) . This thread is not related to the other thread about a dad visiting a prostitute website! It was in that thread, yes, where you mentioned a term I never heard before in my 24 years of life, so I looked it up and got concerned. Please don’t feel guilty for posting about men midlife crisis in the other thread. It was something new for me, and I decided to make a new thread to ask other’s opinions and experiences, and that if I , as a wife, should be prepared for when my husband hits the midlife (he is 30 now). Thanks to the posters here, I’m believing that it has more to do with character and morals , and that not all men will cheat or do something immoral. My husband is a great son of God, and he will never do something that will hurt me or my son. 🙂 By the way, thanks for offering prayers!

The thread you’re referring to was started by a different person than the person who started this one.

Usually, a thread’s topic is addressed separately from previous ones even if the OP’s question might have been inspired by another thread.

Although the OP mentioned where she first read about the term, responding to her question doesn’t necessitate taking the other thread’s discussion into consideration.

I have never had time for a mid-life crisis. I am 58 now. With our four daughters and one granddaughter, there has been no empty nest. All the girls remain prominent in our lives, and local. I think that “crisis” is often used as a justification for sin.
This is kind of silly, but since our early 40’s, I have been very passionate and possessive about my wife keeping her hair long. I guess in some silly psychological way, her beautiful hair helps me forget how old I am! 🙂 Rob

Exactly. Functional people don’t suddenly wig out. Their dysfunction was percolating under the surface all along. Either people refused to see it, decided to just live with it, or they were genuinely not in tune with their spouse. Which can happen. A guy’s a workaholic, he brings home the bacon, and everyone just assumes dad is quiet. He gets ready to retire, and decides to do things his own way. 🤷
Where did dad go? Nowhere. He’s still the same guy underneath it all. .
