Some people may know someone who suffers from any particular illness such as depression, schizophrenia, and too many others to list. I know that dealing with someone like this may seems unfair and unwanted, but these people need your help. Society just throws these people under the bus and ignores them or treats them like lab rats in some psychiatry office. What I am saying is that these people need a great deal of love and patience. Both of these two things can go a real long way. I just want to say this sense I am a manic depressant myself and I just want to raise public awareness of issues like this. God Bless and show your love to people who suffer from the cross of mental illness.

Here is a song that makes you see what life looks like from the eyes of someone who deals with mental problems.

I would take comfort in the fact that Jesus was one of the first to recognize mental illness in people and to comfort them and quell their demons as opposed to the rather ignorant behavior toward the ill prevalent in the past.

The inclusiveness of Jesus’ love for all should remind us that we are all children of God and we should treat our brothers and sisters as such.

Peace

What really annoys me about society’s treatment of the mentally ill, is that mental illness is perfectly treatable and in most cases curable.

Some people come on this forum and say the use the Pill to cure a hormonal issue, and there are meds for cardiac problems and BP problems and diabetes. Mental illneses are physical and chemical, all those patients need is good medication, like their peers suffering from cardiac problems.

Not a lot of information, but a brief description of Geel, Belgium, which in the Middle Ages began a community program of caring for the mentally ill, as a result of proximity to the grave of St Dymphna, patron saint of the mentally ill.

Nothing personal but I have suffered many years with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a horrid traumatic event thirty years ago that still triggers awful painful memories.

I’ve been through the whole gambit of psychotropic drugs that do nothing but send the brain in a zombie whirlwind. Neither am I a big fan of secular psychotherapy which ultimately does nothing in its attempt to give the answers of life and having left me in the past feeling just as empty when I began psychotherapy.

Giving real credit where it rightfully should be is my strong Catholic Faith which God has so richly blessed me. With Jesus Christ; He gives you a reason to suffer. Paradoxically; it is only through humility that you begin to understand this life even if it is unfair. Humility bore in the gift of Faith which only God can give, rewards in Love.

This is not all so easy to comprehend in a nutshell because it takes years, possibly decades to begin to see WHY as individuals why God created us for a better good and we were never part of this world from the beginning.

Perhaps all this babble seems nonsense to some reading here but I can truly say that God has removed the blindness in my eyes. I now know the reason He sent me into this world for a short time.

Peace
Chris
