What does this phrase tell about the sin that you are talking about. If a priest tells you this, does this mean that it’s a minor sin? It sounds like it was a minor sin or action since I would think that if it were a mortal sin I think the priest would say something like “yes you need to confess this”. What do you all think?

Without context this is impossible to answer. Just do as he has advised.

It makes absolutely no difference what we think. And as AngelusDomini noted, there is no context - and we don’t want to know what it was about.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why a comment made by one individual - in this case, the priest - is supposed to be interpreted by people who were not there and have no clue what is being talked about. Just because you can get on the internet and ask the question does not mean that is where you should ask it, or to whom you should propose the question.

If you want to know that the priest meant, ask him. He is the one who said it, and since none of us are mind readers, he is likely the only one who knows what he meant.

Sorry, I am a bit pointed; but how am I (or anyone else) supposed to know? Why are these types of questions constantly being asked?

Seems like you are playing with words somewhat/someone’s manner of expression, to determine the severity of a sin?

Without the context of the particular priest or situation, it is virtually impossible to advise.

Certainly you may interpret the phrasing to be ‘relaxed’ but it seems a somewhat trivial debate.

God detests all sin and can abide NONE. So I think it’s safe to say that whatever it is should be treated seriously and delt with as prescribed.

There is no ‘little sin’ that can be swept under the rug or not worried about ‘too much’, regardless of catholic teaching or otherwise.

Address the sin as instructed and resolve it.
