The first Sunday after Easter has been designated as Divine Mercy Sunday; this was instituted by our late great John Paul II. It honors the feast of the Divine Mercy and St. Faustina, a Polish nun of the early-mid 20th century to whom this feast was revealed.

There is a Novena which carries a plenary indulgence under the proper conditions.

If you go to EWTN and search “Divine Mercy”, you’ll link to an explanation of the feast, the Novena, the chaplet of Divine Mercy, and ‘anything you need to know’. (There is also at least one thread here on the forums which has the link in a post–search thread will find it).

God bless.

What exactly is Mercy Sunday??
The Lord’s words to St. Faustina about Mercy Sunday states this:

"Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must be also act of mercy… I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of the Love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always, and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it.

Observing the Feast of Mercy is the following:
  1. Celebrate the Feast on Sunday after Easter;
  2. Sincerely repent of all our sins;
  3. Place our complete trust in Jesus;
  4. Go to Confession, preferably before Sunday before that Sunday;
  5. Receive Holy Communion on the day of the Feast;
  6. Venerate the Image of the Divine Mercy;
  7. Be merciful to others, through our actions, words, and prayers on their behalf.

So basicly it’s another Holy Feast that helps us grow in Christ?

What exactly is Mercy Sunday??
Feast of the Divine Mercy - a yearly feast, first declared by John Paul 2 in honour of the Divine Mercy devotions promoted by St Faustina.

It occurs on the Sunday following Easter each year.

We’re doing a Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena leading up to it - click on the link in my signature 👍
