I have been to chick fil a, and I did not care for, dry baked chicken on a unhealthy dry white bun.

What’s wrong with whole wheat? But OTOH some of the sides are better than chips (fries). you can get fruit cups and carrot and raisin salad.

But I wont eat dry sandwitches just to make a jab at homosexuals that don’t care anyway.

Eating as a political act, not me.

And I am definately not southern baptist.

Oops. I forgot about it being Friday. I try to abstain from meat on Friday’s as well. But today I forgot. 😊
I did some research, and I think the following from Canon Law probably applies in this case for a Friday outside of Lent:

Canon 1253 It is for the conference of bishops to determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinence and to substitute in whole or in part for fast and abstinence other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety.

Since going to Chick-fil-A for the first time was motivated by wanting to help out a Christian business that is under attack for being Christian. What my family did by going there was a work of charity and an exercise of piety. The food there was great, but that wasn’t the main reason we went.

“No one is questioning Cathy’s right to say what he said. The opposition to his statement is not about “political correctness” either. We have to remember that LGBTs are a marginalized group. Within recent history they have been sent to mental institutions, jailed, harassed by cops, denied employment (and can still be in some places), and were generally considered outsiders in society. Because they were outsiders, and were generally isolated from each other, they could not speak up for themselves when people spoke against them. With the formation of the modern gay rights movement, LGBTs make it a point to confront and challenge such statements, no matter how small, and make it clear that it is not acceptable to them. I don’t think anyone should be upset that things aren’t how they used to be and Chick-Fil-A will have to deal with the bad press for a little while (ultimately, for good or bad, it will blow over).”

Yes they are. They are ‘crucifying’ him for it. If it’s not ‘political correctness’ then why are the mayor’s of Chicago and Boston supporting this group. They are marginalized because they are a minority that has what the majority considers to be deviant behavior. Parents are creeped out by them because they know that pedophiles are primarily homosexual men. Typically, intuitively, we try to minimize risk for ourselves and our loved ones. Consequently we are uncomfortable with them and try to avoid them. And they have become militant and extreme which feeds the legitimate concerns of the majority. How many children were born of effeminate men and masculine women throughout history. HHow many children are not being born now because their potential parents are choosing the same sex? It is a sad social situation.

Yep. Alcoholics are marginalized, too. But that doesn’t mean we have to accept alcoholic behavior as normal.

Choosing to be homosexual is another form of contraception. They (anyone) could have homosexual thoughts or tendencies but still be heterosexual. Kind of like it’s a child not a choice. It’s a gender not a choice. They are making a choice that is not open to life. For a long time I believed homosexuals were legit. Now I think they are confused, ignorant and or selfish. Perhaps narcissistic or sociopathic too. They can
satisfy themselves with no regard for consequences. I inderstand hating the sin and loving the sinner. I get that. It’s a lot easier, for me, to be tolerant of women, than men, which I think is really just a reflection of a normal gross-meter. Also because the men are the most militant and extreme. Just kind of thinking out loud here…

The problem is that going to the other extreme is just as bad. Just because LGBT community will be really sensitive for awhile doesn’t mean we can’t be upset about it-we should be.

However oppressed this group used to be I personally think that as a whole the LGBT community is trying to use their status as a former “oppressed” group to bully other people into supporting them by playing the morality card.

Also remember that this is indirectly about support of same-sex marriage. We still need to stand in opposition to same-sex marriage no matter how oppressed the LGBT community was at one time-and because they support same-sex marriage I cannot support them as a whole.
Crisis magazine has an article dealing with this:

We haven’t been to CFA for so long since we found out that they’re using peanut oil. My 11 yo daughter is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. Although hot pressed/refined peanut oil is generally safe for her we decided to stop going there due to the fear that there’s really no 100% guarantee that it’s safe.

But last Wednesday, we did! We walked in our nearby CFA with confidence and trust that she’ll be alright. She had the chicken sandwich, waffle fries and chicken nuggets. I just stared at her while praying that she’ll be fine. No symptoms. She finished every bit of her food. We monitored her the entire night and everything was good.

We also used it as an opportunity to explain to her the sacredness of marriage and what CFA has to do with it. She also made the connection about why CFA is always closed on Sundays. 🙂

We will now choose CFA over other fastfood joints when we crave for fastfood.

Beautifully stated. Education plus inspiration moored with ethics and morality is and always has been the answer. Thanks for the link. The site will be bookmarked.

Oh you’re black, I’m a liberal…let me trip over myself to praise you based on your skin color to show how modern and diverse I am…because I’m making a judgement based on your skin-color and not your character as Dr. King would say…like how I said Dr. King? That’s because that’s how African-Americans usually call Dr. King, only white-racist Republicans actually refer to him by his full name…anyway…isn’t Obama great? :D:p
That’s the second time you’ve misinterperted him.

Time number 1) He said: Lots of black people work at the store, so if it goes out of business (libs succeed) they will lose jobs, which will be bad for them. You read (as close as I can tell): “if liberals disassociate with the chain, then black people will have to quit.”

Time 2) He said he has African ancestry in response to your accusation of almost-racism. You for some reason thought he was boasting and responded with… insults?

Really man, this was uncalled for. Completely.

The food was excellent, the workers (which included people of all races) were very friendly, and the dining tables and the bathrooms were very clean. I rate it a 10 out of 10 since they add a lot of extra touches that typical fast food chains don’t have. They also brought our food to us at our table. My kids loved the kid’s playroom (I don’t know if every restaurant has this), so it was very family friendly, too. Now I know why they have had such popularity.

By the way, if liberals succeed in their crusade to put Chick-fil-A out of business, they will also be putting a lot of African Americans out of a job. And that’s the last thing African Americans need since they’ve been hit the worst by this failed economy.
Living,

I suggest that you consider the Chik-fil-A association with Dominionism…good food…good food and then execution by the Dominionists. They are similar to Hobby Lobby in their Protestant/Domionionsit bent…

Chick-Fil-A has also been associated with the promotion of “dad’s groups” linked to Campus Crusade for Christ (which has been noted as being coercive on a number of campuses) and promotes the Arthur S. DeMoss Foundation–a group that has promoted “bait and switch” evangelism, is a major funding source for dominionist groups, and is most known for having famous sports figures (including, formerly, NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon) promoting an explicitly dominionist version of the New Testament.

Was not the Little Red riding hood fooled by a wolf in sheeps clothing…happening again I believe…Chicken is Chicken…

Suppose Chick-fil-A implemented a policy of not serving *married *same-sex couples, on the grounds that doing so would be a tacit endorsement of SSM. Should Chick-fil-A be allowed to discriminate against them?
Spence,

Actually Chik-fi-A, like the Hobby Lobby support Dominionism and if implemented they will be executing Catholics and all homosexuals basically having it their way not our way.

I like that food as well. Seems to be a bit more healthier than McDonald’s. I like the fries too. 😃

Good point! I also consider this to be an act of eucumenism at its finest!

If you don’t want to be defined by a sex act, then don’t try and gain rights based on your sexual orientation.
But they are denied rights based on their sexual orientation. What else should they ask for? Also, sex acts and sexual orientation are different, but you seem to know that.
Parents are creeped out by them because they know that pedophiles are primarily homosexual men. Typically, intuitively, we try to minimize risk for ourselves and our loved ones.
But gay men are not primarily pedophiles. That and what is said above are two different proportions. Though, I believe what you say is just an attempt to demean gay men and classifying pedophiles as heterosexual or homosexual is unnecessary. My first statement, however, is sufficient to disprove yours.

No one’s asking you to.

Talk about cafeteria Catholics! 😃

It’s not an insult; it’s a joke. That why there’s a smiley. If I explain it ruins the fun.

But they are denied rights based on their sexual orientation. What else should they ask for?
You said they are “wrongly defined as a sex act”. Well if they’re defining themselves by a sex act to gain rights (and as I said, IMO bullying other people to give them “rights” that they DON’T actually deserve), then I’m not going to get too beat up about it if I identify the community by their sexual actions.

Chaste homosexuals I have no problem with. But this LGBT community as a whole I DO have a problem with.

Thank you Copt, like I said I am no southern baptist and definately not a domionist. These people make strange bedfellows with Catholics and Orthodox. Their goal is to transform the US into a fundamentalist theocracy and when they acheive that goal there playing nice with Catholics will end.

They do not consider Catholics Christian at all, and freely proseletize Catholics trying to turn them into their definition as “christains”.

No thank you.
