MERGED: Divine Mercy Sunday Question

If I go to the 4PM Mass on Saturday, will this satisfy for Mass of Divine Mercy or do I actually have to go to Mass on Sunday? Hope I don’t sound too stupid here, but I figure it is better to ask than just go ahead when I am not sure.
 
Any mass after 4pm on Saturday is considered a vigil mass and it fulfills your sunday obligation. 👍

If you are asking whether it satisfies your Sunday obligation to go to Mass, then yes, it does. On the other hand, if you’re doing something like a Divine Mercy novena and would like to know if you can call it complete by just going to Saturday evening Mass, then I don’t have any good answer for you, but it at least seems questionable.

Although Saturday evening Masses are often called “vigil” Masses, this is a misnomer. There are only a handful of true vigils throughout the year, such as the vigils of Easter and Pentecost. I think the feast of St. John the Baptist has one as well. The better term is “anticipated Mass.”

It depends on what time your diocese set for Masses in anticipation of Sunday. In many US dioceses, it is 4pm; in others it’s 5pm. If it is the regularly scheduled Mass on Saturday evening and is considered one of the Sunday Masses, it is undoubtedly offered in compliance with the diocisan directive in this regard.
 
I’m a little unclear about Divine Mercy sunday, which my family wants to participate in.

My girls sing in the children’s choir, and must attend the Sat 4pm Mass as part of the choir. I will be attending that Mass with them. My husband will stay home with the baby, because of the choir obligation, we will be there in excess of 2 hrs, more than she can behave for. My husband will attend confession on Sat.

My husband will attend the 8am Sunday Mass, I was planning to stay home with all the kids, since we will have already been to Mass.
We have a Divine Mercy Sunday event at our church from 1:30pm-4pm, which my girls are also singing at. THere will be confession, rosary, and prayers. My girls and I will attend, my husband will be home with the baby again - that’s naptime and because of the choir obligations, we will be there about 4 hrs total. My girls and I will participate in confession on Sunday.

My question is: should my children and I also attend the Sunday morning Mass, as part of Divine Mercy Sunday, in addition to our Sat night Mass we must attend due to the choir obligation? Are we supposed to receive communion on Sunday itself for the Divine Mercy? Since my husband will be attending confession on Sat, and Mass on Sunday, can he just pray at home instead of attending the service itself?

Going to Mass on Saturday evening counts. Your husband should be good for confession. The paper I have says within 20 days before or after. (for the indulgence) To me it sounds like your family is doing a good job with the other responsibilities that you have.
