I see everyone is here posting with fine form as usual. Ahhh what a wonderful thing it is to be here on earth and no earthquake. 😃

Yes, I was chuckling a bit, but it was odd in the Liturgy of the Hours that there were readings from Revelation about the apocalypse. I never pay attention to this stuff, but the LOH reading did cause me to pause…
We should always be ready for our Lord. I pray He will come soon.

OK, when 6 pm passed in your time zone with no rapture, were you the tiniest bit relieved?
Relieved? Not one bit. But I was very interested in the new about what happened to the poor souls who actually believed Camping. I scanned the news channels to see if they did anything drastic. Other than that, 6pm my time was tipoff for the Thunder-Mavs game, so another thing that made me excited about 6pm.

You can read about the last judgement, what will happen at our death, in St. Alphonsus liguori’s work

But beware of going to despair (at least, that what happened to me… for my sins were a lot, and I tackled that by going to confession)

Remember that God’s mercy is infinite. And he loves us. That He is love and mercy itself.
That he wants us to be saved, and none to be damned. We choose that by our own doing.
He established the sacrament of confession as a fount of mercy

This diary of St. Faustina will be a nice supplement to protect us from despair, and to ask God for boundless trust in his mercy, goodness and love

He wants us to be happy with him in heaven

We should go to confession frequently and trust in God’s boundless and unfathomable mercy

St. Faustina said that even if the sins of the whole world and all the damned combined, we can never exhaust the mercy of God.
So, the damned choose hell by himself, by rejecting God’s mercy and forgiveness. Or his existence. By rejecting to convert and ask God’s forgiveness

This just in, breaking news from Indiana:

The world did not end here yesterday, although it is a beautiful sunny day and the Chicago Cubs scored 8 runs in the eighth inning last night to defeat the Boston Red Sox. Both of these things are very unusual.

If the world did end where you are, please send me a telepathic message. Your email server may be down.😃

🤷

It is true that priests nowadays are getting busier and rejects penitents, or treat them with such unfriendliness that the penitents are afraid of going to confession,

however, if the priest makes a mistake (or he himself doesn’t go to confession, thus, do not attain holiness and eternal salvation), it doesn’t mean that we too should lose our eternal salvation and happiness.

no no, it would be the priest’s responsibility with God.
We have to pray for him

And for ourselves, if we desire to confess weekly, yet do not have the confessor to do so, we can go monthly to four different priests, and ask each, ā€œCan I go regularly to confession, if so, how many times a year?ā€

He would probably say ā€œonce a month.ā€
ā€œThen, can I go to confession monthly with you?ā€

Voila. You’ve got a confessor.

Do not lightly change your confessor, unless you see that something is seriously wrong with him (you see him call mortal sin venial, and venial sins mortal or no sin at all). These kind of priests should be avoided. You should choose a priest that is holy, and live in accordance to the commandments of christ, thus you will be safe.

You can also ask Jesus,

ā€œJesus, give me holy confessor and spiritual directorsā€
ā€œJesus give me the grace to confess weekly, if this is according to your holy will, for nothing is impossible for youā€
ā€œJesus, grant that this priest may want to hear me confessā€

That is what I pray for each weekly confession. Without which it would be impossible.

And pray also so that the priest may be given light to understand your soul.

You can imitate the saints on how they confess.
St. Gemma Galgani confessed three times a week
St. Birgitta of Sweden confessed every day
St. Alphonsus Liguory confessed twice a week, or weekly
St. Dominic savio, who died at the age of 15 confessed weekly
St. Faustina Kowalska confessed weekly, and have a spiritual director, which she would have to ask for and wait

St. Teresa of Avila confessed frequently, yet she laments about bad confessors who harm her spiritually by saying mortal sin is venial and lead her astray so many times (you can read in her book, life)

St. Pope John Paul confessed weekly
Blessed mother teresa confessed weekly

Well, if we haven’t confessed for years, I think we should question, are we holier than the saints? That is what I question myself, and the answer is sadly… no

So, if the saints confess thus frequently, how about us?🤷

I wasn 't worried one bit and I wasn’t relieved either. I didn’t even know when it was 6 PM as I was busy with other things.

It makes me very sad (and also somewhat angry) that a person can be so successful in deceiving so many people by a false interpretation of the Word of God. I am not saying Mr Camping did this deliberately to deceive (I think he is deluded and really believed what he was teaching). I just don’t understand what part of ā€œNo man knows the hourā€ people don’t understand. Christ made it clear He would return like a thief in the night, unexpectedly, yet people prefer to ignore the plain unequivocable words of God and follow a mere human.

The best thing would be if he said nothing. He should apologize to the Lord for his behaviour.
Let us pray for him.

I didn’t even know when 6pm came and went and where. The Bible is so starkly clear about the fact nobody knows that I didn’t for a second think that Camping could be right.

OK, when 6 pm passed in your time zone with no rapture, were you the tiniest bit relieved?
There is no such thing as the rapture, that is a heretical teaching and not a Catholic teaching.

I was not ā€œrelievedā€ at 6 p.m. when nothing happened.
