Hello all! Please keep me in your prayers as of tomorrow I will be brought into the Catholic Church! My question is since I’m coming into the Latin Church, do I call myself Roman Catholic, Latin Catholic, Latin Rite, Roman Rite etc. Which would be correct?

God Bless,
BVMFatima
Awesome!!!

I am so excited for us all!
I hope I can make it through it without crying.
We are also having our marriage blessed. It will be a very blessed and emotional day!
This is really it! I have been waiting and studying for a year feeling like it would be forever before I was able to be confirmed, wow its here already, part of me is almost in shock lol
Pray for me!
And now I am thanking God for waterproof mascara! I cry at the drop of a hat anyway, so tomorrow may be a complete waste of makeup day lol.

Congratulations and God bless you, too!

Tomorrow my life will forever be changed as I am confirmed and received into the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I thank God every day for His mercy and grace on my journey HOME. And I thank Him for all my friends, both here and in real life, who have walked along with me and encouraged me every step of the way. May God richly bless all of you, especially those who are coming HOME with me at the Easter Vigil.

I am so excited for you! This year was my first year helping to teach RCIA…and I have longed for all of them to be in communion with us. So happy for you!

Congratulations and welcome!!

I just call myself Catholic. The only time the church uses Roman or rather Latin rite is to differentiate between rites.

We are Catholics. Roman Catholics as opposed to just Catholic, was given to us by Protestants who still wished to call themselves catholic used Roman Catholic in a derogatory manner.

By calling yourself Roman Catholic, unless it is to identify to another Catholic which rite you practice, you are excluding all the other Catholics who practice a different rite but are in communion with the Pope, in my opinion.

I prefer to use the name that the Church has always used for herself rather than the name that was derogatorily given to us by our enemies.

I am Catholic. I practice the latin rite.
