It was the Jews who kicked out St. Peter and the other Nazarenes who continued to attend the synagogue with the Orthdox. They put a dereliction on their door, expelling them.
So the Nazarene Jews (Christian) – and Galileans to the Romans, – started their own synagogue. Later the Holy Spirit sent Peter to Rome. But this synagogue was the first church of Jerusalem as referred to in the Book of Acts, having Peter and having primacy until the Diaspora.
After the Diaspora, the Church, through Peter and Paul, in Rome had primacy and was the support in developing new churches throughout the world at that time.
In the meantime, there came about alot of ill feeling between the Jews and Christians. People point out passages in the Talmud that do not speaking kindly of Christ, and were used to create alot of anti-Christian and anti-Jewish sentiment on both sides.
But the charism of universality really took hold in Rome, there developed patriarchs and jurisdictions, and the Jewish community in Israel tended to fade from the big picture of church development and impact.
What is happening now is the Hebrew Catholic Association, of which I am a member. It is fascinating to read about their conversion, and even more to study Scripture and the Catholic Church through these Hebrew Catholics. They chose the name ‘Hebrew’ that was used for the devout rather than Jewish. And those who have come to Christ, I said conversion here…and that is the wrong word, they are already in God…they experience more Jewishness in the Church than before. They are fulfilled Jews.
I would refer Chosen People to contact them and communicate with them.
The Hebrew Catholics believe some day they will help the Gentile church and I can see it now…wonderful…
