It is time for my annual posting of Adeste fideles with Merry Christmas wishes for all.

Adeste fideles, laeti triumphantes
Venite, venite in Bethlehem
Natum videte, Regem angelorum
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus
Venite adoremus, Dominum.

Deum de Deo, Lumen de Lumine,
Gestant puellae viscera,
Deum verum, Genitum non factum.
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum

En grege relicto, Humiles ad cunas
Vocati pastores approperant.
Et nos ovanti, Gradu festinemus;
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum

Cantet nunc Io chorus Angelorum;
Cantet nunc aula caelestium:
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum.

Stella duce, Magi Christum adorantes,
Aurum, tus et myrrham dant munera.
Iesu infanti corda praebeamus;
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum.

Aeterni Parrentis splendorem aeternum
Velatum sub carne videbimus:
Deum Infantem, pannis involutum,
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum.

Pro nobis egenum et foeno cubantem
Piis foveamus amplexibus:
Sic nos amantem quis non redamaret?
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum.

Ergo qui natus die hodierna,
Iesu, tibi sit gloria,
Patris aeterni Verbum caro factum.
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus Dominum.
Adeste, fideles; adoremus Dominum
Adeste, fideles!

Complete English lyrics

O come all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of Angels
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

God of God
Light of Light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God, begotten not created.
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

See how the shepherds,
Summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
We too will thither
Bend our joyful footsteps;
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

Lo! star led chieftains,
Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;
We to the Christ Child bring our hearts’ oblations.
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

Splendor Immortal,
Son of God Eternal,
Now hidden in mortal flesh our eyes shall view.
See there the Infant, swaddling clothes enfold him.
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

Child, for us sinners
Poor and in the manger,
We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;
Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

Sing! Choirs of Angels;
Sing in exaltation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above;
Glory to God, in the highest
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

Yea, Lord, we greet thee!
Born this happy morning,
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing:
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

My wishes to everyone for a peaceful and holy Christmas. God bless you all.

Bringing this back to the top for 2010. Merry Christmas to all at CAF.

Just been to the vigil mass. The church was not in my home town. We had mike anderson’s clapping Gloria…and it was Like being in a sports hall. Half the congregation sat through the consecration and the tabernacle was in a box that looked like a jail to the side of the church. No altar. A kid started bouncing a tennis ball and people chatted a lot…anyway Merry Christmas and I hope your liturgies are more reverent:thumbsup:

Merry Christmas!

I am well and truly blessed, because I get to go to Christmas Mass in the Extraordinary Form tomorrow!

Merry Christmas! I had the experience of attending one of the most enjoyable Christmas Vigils I’ve attended in yrs! I literally began getting tears of joy welling in my eyes on my way home thinking about it. Same parish. Same cantor. Different celebrant. But no verse of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” in Latin this yr like last yr. I don’t speak nor understand it so that was a good thing to me. Heard prayers for world leaders to bring about peace. And at the same time had the rare instance of attending Mass without hearing a single reference about abortion or the unborn. It was so refreshing to not feel I was at a US Republican Party rally of sorts for a change. Wore a nice pair of shorts to the knee with a long sleeved buttoned down shirt and a nice pair of sneakers. I was not the only one in shorts. Many including many women I noticed came in jeans. There were also of course those who were more “dressy”. But different strokes for different folks. One lady I saw came in sweats. But they were red and green. Very Christmasy! One gentleman came with Santa cap in hand. Father even talked about Santa. Saying only Santa knew who was naughty and who was nice. The best thing was no one seemed to care about things like what anyone else had on. We simply celebrated Jesus’ birth together! It seemed most of us even took CITH. Again Merry Christmas and God bless! Peace.
