message board cutting down Catholics

if any of you are interested in defending the Catholic faith this message board I found is so confused about Catholics that it simply sickens me, they are saying that Catholics worship the Pope, Mary, dead people, the saints, rosary beads and that we are all doomed.
in particular one messager named grahame feels it is his duty to save the Catholics or their souls will be lost
Just wanted all the Catholics who want to defend our faith know about this, its sad how really confused these people are about us.

I’ll come over and check it out, I don’t know how people can be so confused over us (Catholics) but its not ok for them to continue with these ideas, maybe they should worry about their own salvation and less about ours.

What I find interesting is the fact that they are conspiring to come over here and have dialog so as to save us from the falsehoods they have about us,but I tried to get on a Babtist forum and they wouldn’t let me in,to defend Catholicism!:nope:

Yes, I’ll check this one out. There is another one I have glanced at too in their “Marriage Theology Forum” at www.familylife.com which is the same. It’s a real click where the few Catholics on there are completely shunned and made fun of. The people on there all have completely big heads and think they are God’s gift to Christians. It sickens me too! I don’t know which is worse outright telling a Catholic they’re doomed to hell or just repeated stabs and unkind treatment. Either way, I really do not enjoy any Protestant forums at all. They can be very unkind folks. All acting the same, saying the same thing, reading the same “in” book, talking the same talk, thinking they’re all so swell----catch my drift? EWWWW-

Good luck , this “grahame” seems to have some very serious issues with Catholics and it would be awesome if we could show him all the areas where he is sooooooo wrong, he needs to hear the truth.

As a Roman Catholic, I had some pretty nasty experiences with protestants while I was in the Navy (it was in the Navy, 1975, that I met my first ‘Christian’ , i.e, a non- Catholic/non-protestant believer in Jesus? And today in Boston, I’ve had some serious conversations with protestants who like to defame Catholicism.

I have gone through the whole debating process with those of otger denominations, and a lot of the time it gets you nowhere. A lot of people on their have hardened their hearts and do not want to hear your side, and are happy believing that any “catholic” church is not even christian.

Furthermore, even if you back up your beliefs with scripture they will tell you that you are misinterpreting. If you back up your point with history, they won’t hear it because they believe in sola scriptura.

I’m sure there are one or two people who will read what you write and take it to heart, but my advice is to make sure your intentions are pure, and to realize when it is time to move on.

Good Luck, I really hope that those of you who are going to those sites actually have an effect on some of the people on there.

Sparkle, I checked out the message board, do you have any specific forum you post in? I checked out the marriage, family, theology and it seems very wishy washy, with the attitude that there is not “One true chruch” that wherever people gather in God’s name that is good enough, and although I believe that in heaven we will see many denominations and not just Catholic folks but I also believe that there is one true church and that is the Catholic church, some people don’t or won’t believe that and you could debate it until your black and blue. But, I didn’t see anything bad in this board unless you can direct me to a specific forum, I only get upset when people post things about the Catholic faith that are so untrue and they just keep insisting over and over that this is what Catholic belive when they have never even set foot into a Catholic church let alone know anything about the Catholic faith, they spread fear to people not truth, I honestly don’t know what people are so afraid of? But some are so insecure in their own faiths that they must spread lies about another faith instead of simply admitting that they just maybe don’t understand our faith. But, if there is something specific in a forum let me know which one and I’d love to check it out.

I know exactly what you mean and thats why I came here for help, I am not very good at debating without letting my emotions get out of control and then I only sound silly and that is exactly what they love, to get you upset but some people are very good at debating and even if only one person can be reached and see that Catholics don’t worship the pope, Mary, rosary beads etc. if at least we can get someone to start thinking, hmm. maybe I’ve got those Catholics pegged wrong, that might be worth it, its not easy and anyone who wants to try gets my atta boy or girl, I know I’m not good with debates and of course they won’t come over to here and debate, I’ve offered them, no, they want to sit and spread their lies and it just really pushed me too far today when I googled one of the names and here he is on tons of message boards on the web spreading false lies about Catholics, that really just bugs me, I know I need to get a thicker skin and not let this stuff get me so upset

I completely understand where you are coming from. Just the other day I was debating the who issue of salvation through faith or through faith and works. Yesterday, of course there was a post in response to mine, but I decided not to reply. I can’t keep arguing with people back and forth anymore. It is very exhausting. I have so many responses I could have given them, but to me it is becoming difficult to continually argue.

Anyone who has the strength to argue with these people in a patient, loving, christian manner, then more power to you, and I will pray that someone hears you.

Another issue I have, is that the site I go on is Baptist. I went to that site because my boyfriend is Baptist, and I wanted to learn more about his beliefs so that I could intelligently discuss them with him. From going on that site, I have learned a lot about Baptists, yet have also been given a very negative view of them. That bothers me because I know that not everyone is as extreme as the few I was debating with, and I don’t want to continually think that they are all mean like that. Do you get my point? I know that not everyone is like that, but everytime someone mentions a Baptist church or person, I automatically think of the fundamentalist ones on tha site that accuse me of not even being a Christian! It is not my place to judge these people.

So, I guess my point is that I’m not discouraging anyone, but advising you all to just be carefull.

I agree with you. I have tried some of the protestant forums and I could not take it. Having the constant attacks is too much. It brings all these emotions in and it makes me mad. That is why I do not go to any of them anymore.

Hi Elizabeth and Kamz:

I dunno. Just feeling so overwhelmingly frustrated with Protestants in general right not. Am presently in RCIA and am being completely shunned from my huge family. Then I glance at some Prot. boards such as the one mentioned www.familylife.com especially their Marriage and Family Theology forum and witness such utter hate towards Catholics–and such complete big heads–it makes me puke. There’s an old lady on this particular board, sweet thing, and she’s getting spit on repeatedly by all especially by some guy named “Holton”. It makes me quite sad to see how big-headed folks can be/have absolutely zero humility. “Have mercy on me a sinner”, yes, we can all only hope we get to heaven. These Protestants are so full of themselves, I could gag.

Perhaps someone might want to take a look at the thread in the Theology forum of www.familylife.com : "Converting from catholicism to???..perhaps you can provide some (name removed by moderator)ut from an apologists’ standpoint. For Catholics are being attacked here. I am very unqualified to do so. The poor souls need some direction here. To the True Church.

I have gotten so many e-mails since I’m converting from family members- outlining numerous Scriptures --Chapter, Verses, etc. man-when will they quit? Even my own parents who are pastors in the Baptist arena; they tell me not to contact family with any books/tapes, just “shut up about it”… I am sad it upsets them so, but you know? I hold to the verse that says unless you give up family and come follow me, pick up your cross, etc.,yes, Lord, I want to do that, and we all need to. It involves much sacrifice for us all, but it is worth it. Don’;t you all think? Never thought I would be so ridiculed for choosing this path, but Lord Knows.

I Love being Catholic so much! And I’m so thankful for this forum.
