I suppose you could interpret that as such. There is a schism in the western Church between the church of Rome and protestant churches. It is undeniable. It is also time to stop worrying about why it came about and whose fault it is. We should look for solutions that do not involve denying neither the necessity of the reformation, nor the necessity of the counter reformation.

You might want to think about that statement from the perspective of how it supports relativism. You have your truth and I have mine. There is no objective truth. The origin of this intellectual poison that insists everyone can define reality for themselves, the root of it, is in the earliest claims of the Protestant Reformation, the advent of denominationalism.
It is the cause of the collapse of the Christian west that we see today.

I am not arguing for relativism. I am saying that your dogma might by my heresy. I do believe in absolute truth. However I admit room for not knowing what that absolute truth is. Indeed the Protestant Reformation did not claim you can define reality for yourself. There are countless cases of Protestants demanding adherance to a certain creed, be it the Westminster Confession or the Thirty-Nine Articles. I think it was in the 20th century that people began to think as they like.

Some Anglicans of my acquaintance speak of an Anglican schism. But it isn’t really a schism at all. It is a shattering into numerous pieces.

And no wonder, when parts of Anglicanism have even rejected the lordship and divinity of Jesus Christ.

Seriously, should that occur, I would have to go elsewhere. I really have nowhere to go. The ACNA has some “praise band” church about 30 miles from me, and there is a moribund Anglican split-off in the neighborhood. I am not about to swim the Tiber unless and until I am willing to accept, willingly and gladly, some teachings I really find innovative, like papal infallibility and some but not all the Marian doctrines. So I stick with my quite comfortable traditional parish where little of this invades our weekly worship.

The Jesuits are known for their scholasticism. The Dalai Lama’s own tradition, the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism, is the most scholastic of the Tibetan Buddhist schools. No wonder the Dalai Lama stayed with the Jesuits!

Before Luther died there were quite a few denominations. He told Zwingli that he would burn in hell. He complained that everyone was a self appointed doctrinal authority. He was complaing about the genie he let out of the box. Everyone used the Bible to define their own truth. It still goes on. It is the root and genesis of relativism.
